As a CMDB Data Scientist , the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of USCENTCOM. You will play a crucial role in Directorate by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and analytical value of Configuration Management Database (CMDB) data supporting enterprise IT operations. This role applies data science, analytics, and automation techniques to improve CMDB data quality, enable decision support, and enhance situational awareness across USCENTCOM's global IT environment. The position works closely with J6 enterprise architecture, service management, cybersecurity, network operations, and cloud teams to ensure authoritative, trusted configuration data is available to support mission operations, IT Service Management (ITSM), risk management, and compliance activities Key Responsibilities
- CMDB Data Management & Analytics
- Serve as the technical lead for CMDB data analysis, modeling, and quality assurance within USCENTCOM J6.
- Analyze large, complex CMDB datasets to identify data quality issues, inconsistencies, redundancies, and gaps.
- Develop data models, metrics, and dashboards that support IT operational awareness, service impact analysis, and leadership decision-making.
- Establish and monitor key CMDB performance indicators (KPIs) such as completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and relationship integrity.
- Data Science & Automation
- Apply data science techniques (e.g., statistical analysis, pattern recognition, anomaly detection) to improve CMDB reliability and usefulness.
- Design and implement automated data validation, normalization, and reconciliation processes across authoritative data sources.
- Integrate CMDB data with related ITSM, cybersecurity, asset management, and network monitoring systems to enhance enterprise visibility.
- ITSM & Operational Support
- Support IT Service Management (ITIL-aligned) processes including Incident, Problem, Change, Asset, and Configuration Management.
- Enable accurate service mapping and dependency modeling to support impact analysis and outage response.
- Provide analytical support for root cause analysis, trend analysis, and continuous service improvement initiatives.
- Governance, Compliance & Architecture Alignment
- Ensure CMDB data aligns with DoD, Joint Staff, and USCENTCOM policies and governance requirements.
- Support audits, inspections, RMF activities, and data calls requiring authoritative configuration and asset data.
- Coordinate with enterprise architecture teams to ensure CMDB data supports current and future-state architectures, standards, and roadmaps.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
- Collaborate with J6 divisions, CENTCOM Directorates, component commands, service providers, and cybersecurity teams to improve data ingestion and usage.
- Produce briefings, reports, and visualizations for J6 leadership and technical working groups.
- Advise leadership on data-driven insights related to IT posture, risk, and modernization efforts.

- Education: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 8+ years of related experience
- Technical skills:
- Experience working with enterprise IT data, CMDBs, or ITSM platforms in a DoD or federal environment.
- Strong experience with CMDB concepts, configuration items (CIs), relationships, and service mapping.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools, scripting, or query languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R, or equivalent).
- Experience developing dashboards and visual analytics for executive and operational audiences.
- Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting a Combatant Command J6 or Joint headquarters environment.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ITSM/CMDB platforms.
- Knowledge of ITIL, enterprise architecture, and IT governance frameworks.
- Experience integrating CMDB data with cybersecurity, cloud, and network monitoring tools.
- Certifications such as ITIL, ServiceNow, data analytics, or cloud-related credentials preferred
- Security clearance level: Active Secret clearance (TS/SCI preferred or ability to obtain)
- US citizenship required

The likely salary range for this position is $112,840 - $143,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary.
