Production Assembly Manager

Salary; Exempt; Full-Time

OVERVIEW

The Production Assembly Manager is responsible for overseeing the assembly and testing of the company’s products in a one-off and small-batch production environment. This role ensures that projects are completed on schedule while meeting all design specifications and quality standards.

DUTIES

Core duties include but are not limited to the following:

Review Production processes daily to keep schedules up to date.

Plan production schedules to meet customer deliveries deadline.

Supervise assembly and testing of equipment to ensure performance conformity.

Provide supervision and training as required.

Manage Manufacturing Orders in ERP system, including completing Router Steps and tracking associated labor hours along the way.

Manage Routers in ERP system, working with Engineering & Cost Accounting to ensure router accuracy.

Ensure that Continuous Improvement Techniques are utilized to improve production control operations for efficiency and cost control.

Develop strategies, procedures, control documentation and culture that promotes quality, efficiency and accountability.

Monitor and action cost and cost saving initiatives.

Liaise with parts department to ensure efficient materials supply.

Liaise with engineering group to ensure assembly drawings and bills of materials are accurate.

Communicate with engineering team to make sure production schedule is inline with end customer expectations.

Responsible for health and safety training, culture and compliance within the production environment.

Produce reports for management as required.

Work with others as part of team or team leader on development, costs savings, rationalization, projects or initiatives as required.

Manage assembly personnel including timecards, PTO and performance reviews.

Undertake all other duties as reasonably requested by supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position will directly supervise, coach, develop, and motivate all employees within the Production Department team.

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE

>5 years in supervisory role with a recognized manufacturing company.

>10 years ‘hands on’ experience within an electro/mechanical production environment.

Experience within low and/or medium voltage electronics.

Ability to read, analyze, review, and interpret hydraulic, mechanical and other technical drawings, documents, regulations, and journals is required.

Experience and comfortable with PC and software applications for communication and data collection/analysis.

Experience working in an ERP Systems; Manufacturing Orders, Work Centers, and Scheduling & Costing.

Recognized appropriate technical qualification or apprenticeship.

SKILLS/ABILITIES

Decision making and sound judgement to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and choose the most appropriate one.

Highly organized with good time management skills.

Ability to multi-task and prioritize in order to meet tight deadlines.

Polished and professional written and verbal communication skills with strong proof-reading/editing capabilities.

Positive, inquisitive, proactive, and collaborative attitude with the ability to work well with all Company employees, customers, vendors, suppliers, and the general public.

Maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet the Company core values.

TRAVEL

This position may occasionally travel to customer sites both domestic and international. The ability and willingness to travel is required. A valid passport, driver’s license and proof of vaccinations is a requirement of this position.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. EXPECTED WORK HOURS

This is a full-time salary exempt position. As such, the employee is expected to work Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. As a salary exempt employee, this position may require additional work hours outside these work hours, including weekends to complete job requirements.
