Mechanic Operator
Position Summary
Operate and maintain filling equipment so that abnormalities can be detected and repaired. Responsible for:
a) Ensuring a safe workplace
b) Maintaining the equipment in optimum conditions
c) Producing a quality product
d) Meeting productivity standards
Essential Functions
- Responsible for product quality and productivity.
- Operate equipment within validated perimeters.
- Responsible to identify, troubleshoot and repair production equipment.
- Performs preventative maintenance following a predictive maintenance methodology.
- Change over the equipment according to production requirements to avoid unnecessary downtime.
- Must be able to make minor machine adjustments. Document the work done.
- Maintain correct set-up specs and its documentation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Read and complete all required production documentation (e.g. Hourly Observation Report and others).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Follow all EPC Safety/Environmental, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Lean 5S policies and regulation guidelines.
Required Skills and Experience
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- Two years mechanical training or previous work-related skill, knowledge in packaging/ production environment.
- Basic math and computer skills required.
- Experience working with electric conduits of various voltages.
- Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatics, and controls aspects of production equipment. Ability to read and understand technical drawings and manuals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to see a complex task or project through to completion.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and be detailed oriented.
- Ability to work across functions.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to lift 50lbs without assistance.
Work Environment
- Work on night shifts, overtime and weekends may be required.
- Ability to work a 10+ hour shift standing, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment (maybe above 30 ambient degrees or below 20 ambient degrees in areas of production).
- Fast-paced, high-speed manufacturing environment.
Environmental, Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Exposure to health risks or conditions that may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
- Be aware of and follow the Environmental Policy and EH&S work instructions/procedures that apply to the job.
- Perform every job safely, for the benefit of self, co-workers, contractors, and for the protection of facilities. This includes the use of required personal protective equipment and use of safety equipment as well as safe work practices.
- Immediately report every job-related injury or illness, regardless of severity, to a supervisor.
- Assist in investigating incidents.
- Take necessary actions to correct or stop any unsafe conditions or practices.
- Actively participate in safety meetings and training.
- Review Material Data Sheet instructions before working with any chemical product.
Quality Assurance Responsibilities
- Teammates are responsible for their own quality and that of teammates within their span of control.
- Teammates are responsible for following all established Quality procedures and instructions.
- Notify supervision for corrective action if defects are found and/or parts/processes do not conform to specifications.
