Locum MD (Medical Doctor), DO (Osteopathic Doctor) Hospitalist;Internal Medicine

This on-site, contract position offers a meaningful opportunity to provide high-quality patient care within a supportive and collaborative healthcare environment.
As a Locum Hospitalist and Internal Medicine physician, you will play a critical role in managing patient admissions, coordinating comprehensive care plans, and ensuring continuity of care for hospitalized patients. You will work closely with nursing staff, specialists, and allied healthcare professionals to deliver evidence-based medical treatment that aligns with the highest standards of clinical excellence. This role is ideal for an associate-level physician seeking flexibility and professional fulfillment in a contract capacity.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical care to hospitalized patients, including admission evaluations, daily rounds, and discharge planning.
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions in an inpatient setting.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including specialists, nurses, and therapists, to coordinate patient care.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures as clinically indicated.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based medicine and patient needs.
- Document patient medical histories, examination findings, and treatment progress accurately and promptly.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up care.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide timely interventions as required.
- Participate in patient handoffs and ensure seamless continuity of care during shift changes.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance standards.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical advancements and best practices in hospital medicine and internal medicine.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and patient safety protocols within the department.
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board certification or board eligibility in Internal Medicine or a related specialty.
- Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Florida.
- Associate-level experience in hospitalist medicine or internal medicine inpatient care.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, on-site hospital environment.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical documentation.
- Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Ability to manage multiple patients and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Willingness to adhere to scheduled contract terms and on-site presence in Fort Pierce.
Level II Trauma
Schedule: 12-hour day or night shifts, 7 on/7 off
Beds: 500+
Daily Census: 18-22 per physician, 0-1 consults
ICU rounding required
Procedures preferred, but not required
Support Staff: APPs
Must be board-certified
