Summary

The Server Administrator II participates in all aspects of design analysis implementation and support of systems software or other solutions for Enterprise Information Technology and acts as contributing members for all assigned projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Actively participates in the maintenance monitoring reporting and support of operating systems applications and services.

• Perform routine problem analysis and resolution design for systems and applications.

• Knowledge of Microsoft PowerShell scripting.

• Troubleshoots problems with computer systems including troubleshooting hardware and software communication network and peripheral equipment problems; makes repairs and corrections where required in accordance with SLA guidelines.

• Participate in the Change Advisory Board (CAB) to ensure the change management processes are met and followed.

• Participate in design planning installation and support of computer systems network hardware software applications and peripherals.

• Solid understanding of TCP/IP network fundamentals and related equipment.

• Understanding of Windows Server technologies (2019 and 2022 preferred).

• Provides support for cloud-based infrastructure components (i.e. VM Instance based Linux or Windows Servers).

• Conducts Monitoring of utilization performance and availability of system components & services.

• Conducts log analysis and patch management to ensure high system integrity and security

• Effectively use Help Desk ticketing system for incident and problem management customer interaction and follow-up.

• Create and maintain System Configuration documentation.

• Maintain reports regarding system downtime plans for preventative maintenance and disaster recovery.

• Active contribution towards Cross-Training initiative for Tier II Platforms.

• Assist with management of Active Directory Group Policies Users and Computers.

• Properly prioritize coordinate and escalate unresolved issues or emergencies to other support tiers/teams in accordance with Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans.

• Liaises with end-users management and other systems departments.

• Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department management.

• On-call for production system support.

• Provide shift-based continuous monitoring of network and storage performance providing Tier 2 & 3 support for a global network infrastructure.

• Assist the network team

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• BS degree in computer related curriculum and 4 years network and operating system experience or AA degree and 6 years experience in network and operating system design test and maintenance or equivalent related experience.

• Experience supporting client issues with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Platforms and Federation Services (ADFS SAML Duo Microsoft Auth etc.)

• Experience deploying production systems in the cloud (AWS Azure etc.)

• Experience with Azure Security and Identity services (e.g. Security Center Azure Active Directory RBAC NSGs / ASGs)

• Experience with Azure Networking services (e.g. VNETs Load Balancers Front Door ExpressRoute Traffic Manager Content Delivery Network)

• Basic knowledge of IT security regulations and standards such as ISO 27001

• Experience managing/implementing Windows Server technologies (2016/2019 preferred) Active Directory and Group Policy management.

• Previous experience supporting the following: Microsoft SQL 2008/2012/2014/2016 (DB Maintenance Access) Microsoft Exchange 2016/2019 and Office 365 (Mailbox maintenance) Microsoft IIS

• Previous experience supporting an Enterprise Backup and Enterprise SAN platforms.

• Expertise and practical experience with Microsoft server products and VMware technologies (i.e. Hyper-V DFS Active Directory ExchangeO365 VMware vSphere and vSAN.)

• Good understanding of SCCM & its functionality.

• Experience supporting Server compute infrastructure.

• Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and related network services (i.e. DNS SMTP DHCP Load-Balancers etc.)

• Must be self-motivated and able to work in a team environment.

• Must have well refined troubleshooting skills ability to determine the root cause of a problem and identify and resolve systemic problems.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks while effectively focusing on priority issues.

• Ability to create document and follow processes and procedures.

• Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

• Incumbents must hold one or more of the following: CompTIA Security CompTIA Server Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) Azure Fundamentals or Azure Administrator Associate.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with SAN NAS Virtual Storage and Backup technologies.

• Administration experience on Microsoft Enterprise CA Cert Requests/Monitoring.

• Administration experience on Microsoft File Server (DFS-R/DFS-N ABE) File Share Requests NTFS Permissions.

• Experience with virtualization (VMware vCenter/ESXi VMware Horizon) VM Deployment Monitoring Configuration.

• Familiarity with Information Assurance programs is a plus.

• Microsoft PowerShell Scripting for Server/Platform management.

• Experience supporting the following Linux platforms (RHEL CentOS Ubuntu).

• Assist with the physical installation and maintenance of network equipment cabling and troubleshooting connectivity problems to ensure seamless network operations.

Security Responsibilities

Must complywith all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials in any form. Shall not divulge any information or afford access to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

• Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Work Environment

• Duties performed in an office environment and manufacturing facility.

• Must be able to work overtime on and off-shifts as required.

• The employee is on call 24x7 for the resolution of problems and issues.

Physical Demands

• Ability to operate a personal computer and sit at workstation for extended periods of time

• Ability to lift 50 pounds
