Job Description:

The UF Health Cancer Institute is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span all of the University of Florida's 16 colleges, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 350 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure.

As a Lab Supervisor at the UF Health Cancer Institute (UFHCI), you will be responsible for the oversight of and processing, storage and shipment of various types of samples associated with clinical trials in accordance with the requirements of each protocol.

In your new role you will be responsible for the following:

  • General oversight, training, and management of the CRO’s specimen lab team.
  • Monitoring and maintaining laboratory equipment performance, including establishment of quality standards, development of operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures, certification of instrument performance, and coordinating equipment replacement, service, and repair.
  • Coordinate protocol subject activities and specimen procurement, including informed consent, enrollment/randomization, testing orders, visits/follow-ups, and Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS) documentation.
  • Ensure regulatory, IRB, and fiscal compliance, including support for inspections/audits, adverse event reporting, data queries, billing, and study-related service orders.
  • Manage specimen collection, processing, storage, and shipping, including proper labeling, protocol-aligned processing, appropriate storage, and compliant shipment of samples.

This is a professional level position, ideal for candidates with extensive experience in laboratory management, and clinical protocol coordination. Expected Salary:

$68,000 - $78,000

This is a TEAMS position, and is eligible for a suite of excellent benefits, retirement options, and paid leave.

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health Care, Basic Sciences, or similar.
  • One or more years’ experience in clinical laboratory management.
  • Experience with databases.
  • Experience handling patient data and maintaining privacy/confidentiality.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong written communication skills Strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient time-management and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and interact professionally with clinical and research teams.

Professional clinical research and/or oncology certification (through SOCRA, ACRP, etc.) are required at the earliest of 12 months from hire or eligibility.

Preferred:

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Four to six years of relevant experience and/or training in research and/or oncology.
  • Experience with quality assurance, regulatory processes and SOP/process improvement in a research lab.

Qualities:

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Clear and professional communication style.
  • Attention to detail and initiative Adaptability and customer-service orientation.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Familiarity with CTMS/OnCore and Epic systems.
  • Advanced Excel and data management skills.
  • Experience preparing for and supporting inspections/audits
