Job Summary:

The Assistant Recreation Manager will assist the Recreation Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the recreation department, with a particular focus on bike rentals, putt-putt, Club KZ, the health club, and the carousel. This role requires an individual who is passionate about recreation and has experience managing and supervising staff, ensuring high levels of customer service, and maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Recreation Manager in developing and implementing strategies for the efficient and effective operation of the recreation department, with a particular focus on bike rentals, putt-putt, Club KZ, the health club, and the carousel.
  • Supervise staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Ensure all recreation facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained at all times.
  • Develop and implement programs and activities to engage guests and ensure a positive experience.
  • Oversee the rental process for bikes, including maintenance, inventory, and tracking rental fees.
  • Manage the operation of the putt-putt course, ensuring proper maintenance, staff scheduling, and guest engagement.
  • Oversee the operation of Club KZ, including staff supervision, scheduling, and program development.
  • Ensure the health club is properly staffed, clean, and well-maintained.
  • Oversee the operation of the carousel, ensuring proper maintenance, staffing, and guest engagement.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including food and beverage, marketing, and guest services, to ensure a seamless guest experience.
  • Monitor and manage expenses to meet departmental budget goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in recreation management, hospitality, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a recreation or hospitality management role, with a focus on bike rentals, putt-putt, Club KZ, health club, and carousel operations.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to recreation facilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and recreation management software.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.

Basic Required Skills:

  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Valid driver's license that has been in effect for at least three years, with no major violations and no more than two minor violations in the past three years.
  • May be required: to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands:

  • Most work tasks are performed primarily outdoors in the natural environment as well as indoor as needed.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 5 hours in length.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill tasks.
  • Must be able to exert a well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
  • Must be able to lift items weighing up to 50-100 lbs. as needed on a daily basis.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
