Accounts Payable Specialist | Finance Department

About the Role:
Join our Finance team as an Accounts Payable Clerk , where you’ll play a vital role in processing invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the City's daily accounting operations. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in accounts payable and general accounting practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Receive, verify, and process vendor invoices and payment requests

• Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices to ensure accuracy

• Prepare payments via check, ACH, and wire transfer

• Maintain and reconcile accounts payable ledgers

• Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies

• Assist with month-end closings and year-end reporting

• Support audits, compliance efforts, and internal controls

• Prepare daily deposits and maintain organized records

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent required

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts payable or a related role

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle)

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

Additional Requirements:

• Valid Florida Driver’s License

• Must maintain a home telephone number

• In-office attendance required

• May be designated as mission-critical

Work Environment:
This is a sedentary role with occasional walking and light lifting (up to 25 lbs). The position requires routine computer use and interaction with vendors and city departments in a professional setting.
