Registered Dietitian - St. John's Nursing Center

Summary & Objective

• The Dietitian, Registered is responsible for the nutritional care and education of all patients/residents in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures, through physician/nurse referral.

Essential Functions

• Reviews the dietary requirements of each patient/resident, as required, and assist the attending physician in planning for the patients/residents prescribed diet plan.

• Ensure that all-interdisciplinary notes charted are informative and descriptive of the services provided and of the patients/resident’s response to the services.

• Participates in discharge planning, development and implementation of patient care plans, patient assessments, etc., as required.

• Involves the patient and family in planning objectives and goals for the patient.

• Plans normal and special diet menus as prescribed by the attending physician Evaluate and ensure accuracy in the preparation of documentation.

Other Duties

• Provide information and other relevant updates audibly to patients, care givers and interdisciplinary team members as necessary.

• Develop and participate in programs designed for in-service education, on-the-job training and orientation classes for newly hired personnel.

• Respect and maximize team effort through interactions with both clinical sand support staff.

• Positively interfaces with patient care teams and works in positive collaboration with interdisciplinary team.

• Maintain your required licenses, certifications and mandatory skill updates.

• Comply with all policies, local, state and federal laws and regulations.

• Provide other duties of healthcare team member Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility

• May serve as an interim department leader depending on need

Knowledge & Experience Requirements

• Current State of Florida license as a dietitian.

• Registration or eligibility with the CDR of the American Dietetic Association.

• BS in clinical dietetics or foods/nutrition; plus, one-year internship or equivalent, or master’s degree required.

• Minimum of one-year clinical dietetics experience preferred.

• Skilled Nursing and IRF experience preferred.

• Must be able to provide own transportation to various locations in service areas, as required by duties Must have knowledge of computer office/clinical software.

• Must be able to read, write and understand the English language.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 250+ pounds, walk, climb stair or ladders, stand on feet for extended periods of time, etc.
