Simulation Operations Specialist II
POSITION DESCRIPTION :
The Simulation Operations Specialist II (Sim Ops 2) is the advanced technical lead for the center. This position performs complex diagnostics and configuration on assigned software and hardware, understanding overall program objectives. The Sim Ops 2 manages highly complex physiological simulation software for dynamic acute care scenarios, troubleshoots advanced network issues, and serves as the primary system administrator for the center's digital platforms. They ensure that the technological infrastructure seamlessly supports the educational goals of the Director of Simulation.

The mission of the Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine is to train caring and competent osteopathic physicians who will have an impact on the Central Florida community, our nation, and our global community.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Advanced Scenario Programming: Translate clinical logic into simulation software (e.g., Laerdal LLEAP, Gaumard). Program patient monitor parameters, branching logic, and physiological trends for complex, high-fidelity scenarios (e.g., anaphylaxis, trauma, difficult airways).
- Technical Troubleshooting: Act as the primary liaison with medical equipment vendors and IT. Perform advanced diagnostics on A/V networks, simulator hardware, and proprietary software.
- LearningSpace Management (System Admin & Backend Build): Serve as the primary System Administrator. Build the digital infrastructure for upcoming courses, including inputting pre- and post-encounter MCQs, building grading rubrics, and configuring student checklists.
- System Configuration: Manage user accounts, system configurations, and privilege levels for medical students, standardized patients, and faculty within the simulation software.
- Technology Leadership: Lead the selection, integration, and testing of new simulation technologies. Provide user-level training on hardware and software to clinical faculty and junior staff.video timeline for debriefing.
- Requires occasional evening or weekend work to support system upgrades or critical maintenance.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor’s degree in instructional technology, information systems, healthcare, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in simulation-based education and systems management.
- CHSOS certification is highly preferred.
KEY COMPENTENCIES :
- Deep technical proficiency with simulation software, A/V platforms, and networking.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex hardware/software failures under pressure.
- Thorough understanding of clinical workflows and physiology.
- Proficiency in Apple/MAC products and Google Workspace.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- May involve physical labor including moving equipment.
- Must be able to lift up and carry up to 25 pounds at a time.
