Medical Director Child Abuse Pediatric Program (Tampa)
The Department of Pediatrics in the Morsani College of Medicine, University of South Florida, is seeking a full-time open rank faculty member who is fellowship-trained and/or board-certified in Pediatrics, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine with experience working in Child Abuse Pediatrics. This is a twelve (12) month, full-time, non-tenure earning clinical educator position. Salary is negotiable and based on experience and qualifications.
The selected candidate will serve as the Regional Medical Director for the Child Abuse Pediatrics program, covering Hillsborough and Polk Counties. This position involves providing direct consultation and coordination with healthcare professionals in the evaluation and management of suspected child maltreatment/abuse, including outpatient and inpatient services, and clinical supervision. The program collaborates closely with community agencies such as DCF and law enforcement. Currently, there is one USF pediatrician in the USF Child Abuse Program, also serving as the Statewide Medical Director. The program offers inpatient services primarily at Tampa General Hospital, which has an ACS-certified Pediatric Trauma Program, and collaborates with trauma teams for clinical care, education, and research.
The USF Child Abuse Program provides outpatient services at Mary Lee's House in Tampa and medical director coverage for the Children's Home Society in Polk County, supported by a team of nurse practitioners, case coordinators, a team supervisor, and psychology support.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest appropriate degree in the field, with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment as Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
- Board Certified in Pediatrics, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine, with experience in Child Abuse Pediatrics and managing child abuse and neglect cases.
- Eligible for full medical license in Florida.
- Fellowship training in Child Abuse Pediatrics is preferred but not required.
