CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. New employees of the Florida State Guard will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  2. New employees of the Florida State Guard are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program.
  3. The Florida State Guard is paid on a monthly basis.
  4. As a CANDIDATE, you may be required to provide documentation (i.e., High School Diploma or Equivalency, College Transcripts, ETC.) to verify meeting these Minimum Qualifications.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Federal Aviation Administration certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs OR must have aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools:
    • Commercial Pilot
    • *Multi-Engine Airplane
    • *Multi-Engine Helicopter

*Notes military equivalent for a specific airframe may be substituted.

  • In excess of 1500 hours of total flight time:
    • At least 1000 hours of multi-engine rotary-winged and/or 1000 hours of multi-engine fixed-winged required
  • At least two years of experience in instructing others in a specific airframe/military aircraft

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recommend and development policies and guidelines in all phases of mission requests, flight planning and scheduling of flight training and support of State-owned and contracted aircraft.
  • Supports and advises the chief pilot and operations officer of flight operations issues.
  • Maintain flight logs on incoming/outgoing flights and individual flight records.
  • Prepare, control, and maintain suspense documents and files using proper functional files and numbers in accordance with FAA guidance.
  • Assists the senior aviation staff in a process that ensures proper routing of flight time.
  • Tracks flights and utilizes appropriate radios for aircraft communication.
  • Supervises preparation and maintenance of flight records for all air crew members of the FSG, to include processing local and cross-country flight clearances.
  • Act as relief and primary pilot of State-owned and contracted aircraft in the performance of all FSG aviation missions, as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience with civilian aviation programs or military service aviation programs (active duty or reserve components)
  • Experience piloting and pilot skills in one or more of the following main-frame/military aircraft: Fixed-wing, rotary, or remotely piloted aircraft (RPA).
  • Proven abilities to manage aviation flight planning within a Flight Operations Office.
  • Qualified to develop, implement, and manage a program that manages aviation mission planning and flight records.
  • Knowledge of aircraft and aviation program safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Experienced in mission tasking, intelligence reporting, and gathering weather information.
  • Experienced working with flight operation officers to integrate safety principles throughout an operations office.
  • Experience developing, executing, and maintaining an effective pre-accident plan and required safety procedures and reports.
  • Experienced with aircraft mission Planning (crewed and uncrewed).
  • Experience coordinating refuel operations.
  • Experience developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders concerning operational issues.
  • Ability to recognize risk and conduct risk assessments.
  • Experience following directives, regulations, accident reports, safety data, and local operating conditions to ensure safe operations.
  • Experience planning and scheduling flights through Federal Aviation Administration-controlled national airspace (NAS).
  • Experience receiving and posting operational directives, training directives, instructions, standard operating procedures, and special instructions and gaining organizations/commands.
  • Experience working independently to plan and perform work assignments.
  • Experience using applicable FAA regulations, policies, requirements, standards, skills, and practices and applying instructional techniques to the training of other pilots.
  • Experience maintaining detailed emergency and non-emergency plans and supplements for unit mobility, deployment, away-from-home station field operations/ employment, and redeployment.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Familiar with MS365 and other applicable software suites
