The NDN Companies (NDN) is a woman-owned small business based in Jacksonville, Florida, specializing in environmental services. We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant to grow with our accounting team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to gain hands-on experience across the accounting function. You will report to and be mentored by the Controller. The ideal candidate is eager to learn; desires increased responsibility and a leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Reconciling bank statements and Visa statements
• Reconciling cash disbursements account
• Reviewing and approving expense reports
• Setting up new vendors and collecting required documentation
• Entering vendor invoices
• Processing payables and managing ACH Positive Pay
• Verifying correct general ledger coding
• Assisting in month-end financial statement preparation
• Reconciling and analyzing general ledger accounts
• Analyzing processes to increase efficiency
• Reviewing project setup and initiating corrective action where needed
• Proactively monitor and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks
• Analyzing project profitability and other metrics
• Assisting the Controller
• Filing tax forms
• Minimal phone answering (we use cell phones)
• Filing documents (we are mostly paperless)
• Developing Ajera proficiency to “subject matter expert” level
• Training colleagues on Ajera use

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in Accounting and/or Finance
• 1 to 2 years’ experience in accounting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to read and analyze financial reports and statements
• Effective communication skills
