Staff Accountant

What you will be doing:

• Preparation and entering of monthly and quarterly journal entries.


• Support preparation of financial reporting such as internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits.


• Support preparation and completion of annual and quarterly NAIC statutory financial statements.


• Prepare cash application, accounts receivable, suspense clearing, bank account reconciliations, etc.


• Abide by and enforce internal controls and accounting policy; ensure audit readiness and compliance.


• Support preparation of responses to state insurance departments and regulatory authorities, as needed.


• Assist in maintaining systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data and enhance the Company's value.


• Support financial planning and analysis including budgets, forecasts, results analysis and capital planning.


• Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile special reports as necessary.

What you have:

Education, Experience, and Licensing:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or related required.


• 2 years' experience required in accounting.


• Working towards CPA designation a plus.


• Hands-on accounting experience within the Property and Casualty Insurance industry highly desired but not required.

Qualifications/Skills and Competencies:

• Working knowledge of GAAP, ledger, account reconciliation, audit/control procedures, cash, A/P, A/R, banking and/or accounting systems.


• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact on a professional level.


• Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan and prioritize effectively.


• Ability to work independently while effectively communicating with multiple teams.


• Ability to focus on a specific task or multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.


• Proven ability to be adaptable and flexible; adjusting to new requirements or unforeseen issues.


• Ability to collaborate with internal departments to provide the best resolution.


• Proficient in MSO/365 applications such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
