2nd Shift Mechanic/Setup Technician

Reports to Assistant Plant Manager
Summary
This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and setting up production equipment including conveyors, packaging lines, and automation systems. Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, this position plays a critical role in ensuring optimal production performance and plant safety.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect and observe mechanical devices in operation to diagnose issues.
Disassemble and reassemble production lines and equipment as needed.
Adjust mechanical components and control instruments to improve performance and productivity.
Repair or replace worn or defective parts.
Perform routine lubrication and cleaning of mechanical components.
Conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshoot packaging and production equipment.
Safely operate hand tools, pneumatic, and electric tools.
Complete machine changeovers for new production orders.
Ensure compliance with company safety procedures, policies, and standards.
Support continuous improvement and communicate equipment needs to leadership.
Carry out additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Lead or Supervisor.
Skills & Knowledge
Solid general mechanical aptitude required.
Basic knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics preferred.
Basic electrical knowledge is a plus.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Must be able to work 2nd shift.
Understanding of lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), machine guarding, and operator safety procedures.
Familiarity with food safety standards, GMPs, and SOPs.
Experience
Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or packaging environment preferred.
Experience supporting production lines, monitoring equipment, and adjusting speeds.
Proven ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
On-the-job training for all equipment will be provided.
Education
High school diploma or GED required.
Technical certifications in mechanical, electrical, or related trades preferred.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Daily exposure to mechanical equipment and forklifts in a manufacturing environment.
Regular activities include standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, reaching, kneeling, twisting, and climbing ladders.
Operation of forklifts and pallet jacks as needed.
Must have normal color vision (position not suitable for individuals with color blindness).
