Position Summary

The Assistant Warehouse Operations Manager supports the Warehouse Operations Manager in overseeing daily warehouse production, order fulfillment, and operational efficiency . This role ensures that orders are picked, packed, and shipped accurately, safely, and within defined service levels .

In addition to supervising warehouse staff and managing floor operations, this position plays an important role in client-facing interactions , working closely with Account Managers and business clients to ensure operational alignment and service quality. The role requires strong B2B communication skills and the ability to represent warehouse operations professionally when addressing customer needs, service issues, or project coordination.

The ideal candidate combines warehouse operational leadership with strong communication and coordination skills , helping bridge internal operations with client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations & Production Oversight

• Support the Warehouse Manager in overseeing daily warehouse operations, including picking, packing, shipping, and kitting.
• Monitor pack floor productivity and operational workflow to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
• Ensure all packages are processed and shipped daily in accordance with service level agreements.
• Manage scan stations, carrier shipment stations, and troubleshoot packaging or system issues.
• Close carrier shipments and ensure accurate shipping data reporting.
• Oversee special projects, including kitting and customized client fulfillment needs.

Staff Supervision & Training

• Train assistant supervisors and warehouse staff in picking, packing, and operational procedures.
• Delegate daily warehouse tasks, orders, and operational projects.
• Monitor employee performance and maintain productivity standards.
• Promote staff motivation, accountability, and operational discipline.
• Coordinate cleaning schedules and ensure warehouse organization standards are maintained.

Labor Planning & Performance Monitoring

• Assist in projecting labor requirements based on operational demand.
• Track and report productivity metrics and operational performance indicators.
• Support workforce allocation to maintain efficiency during peak and off-peak periods.

Client & Cross-Functional Coordination

• Work closely with Account Managers, operations teams, and clients to ensure successful execution of client fulfillment requirements.
• Participate in client-facing communication related to fulfillment operations , service delivery, and project coordination.
• Maintain strong B2B communication standards when interacting with customers or internal stakeholders.
• Provide operational updates and collaborate on solutions when issues arise.

Safety, Compliance & Facility Management

• Conduct daily warehouse safety inspections and enforce safety protocols.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
• Secure the warehouse facility daily, maintain operational logs, and set alarm systems as required.

Operational Support

• Maintain warehouse supply levels necessary for daily operations.
• Maintain awareness of available carrier options and delivery methods.
• Use warehouse management systems, order management systems, and carrier platforms to ensure accurate fulfillment and tracking.
• Perform additional operational duties as assigned.

Internal & External Collaboration

• Promote accountability and teamwork among warehouse staff.
• Delegate authority appropriately while maintaining operational oversight.
• Demonstrate professionalism through strong organization, communication, and leadership.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support customer satisfaction and operational performance.

Requirements

Experience

• Experience in warehouse, distribution, or fulfillment operations .
• Experience supervising or supporting picking, packing, shipping, and kitting operations .
• Experience interacting with clients or B2B partners in an operational or service capacity .
• Experience with labor planning, productivity tracking, and operational reporting .

Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills , particularly in client-facing or B2B environments .
• Ability to train, supervise, and delegate work effectively .
• Strong problem-solving and operational coordination abilities.
• Customer-focused mindset with the ability to balance operational efficiency and service quality.

Technical Knowledge

• Familiarity with carrier operations and shipping methods .
• Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and/or Order Management Systems (OMS) preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) .

Additional Requirements

• Forklift operator certification or ability to instruct forklift operation.
• Experience operating scissor lifts preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment .
