Student Accessibility Services: Student Accessibility Services (SAS) works with 3,500+ students with disabilities every year to facilitate equal access and reasonable accommodations. SAS works closely with faculty, Housing, and other departments to ensure disabled students experience equal opportunity to the campus experience. SAS also explores ways in which the UCF experience can be proactively designed with disability access and inclusion considered from the outset so as to minimize the need for reactive accommodations. Overall, SAS' accessibility work spans most areas of campus with opportunities for various engagement and the ability to make a campus impact. The Opportunity: The Accommodations Specialist provides critical support for our deaf and hard-of-hearing accommodation in coordination, especially with respect to ASL Interpreter scheduling with UCF staff and local agencies. This position also supports video captioning accommodation administration. Responsibilities: - Coordinate ASL scheduling for courses by creating a coverage plan between UCF interpreters and local agency interpreters.
- Manage agency invoices and other details (such as coordination with faculty, last minute cancellations, student questions, etc.) to ensure all aspects of the interpreting system are addressed.
- Support captioned video administrative duties by collaborating with SAS staff, CDL staff, and vendors as necessary.
- Support SAS in other areas, such as accommodated testing leading up to and during final exams; last-minute front desk coverage; etc.
- Maintain a flexible work style to accommodate unexpected schedule changes or disruptions while ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent and 0+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. - Demonstrated ability to manage details within databases or other data management resources.
- Ability to work effectively with numerous stakeholders (deaf students, interpreters, managers, faculty, and colleagues).
