REYNOLDS AMERICAN has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Director, State Government Relations in Winston-Salem, NC The Senior Director, State Government Relations is responsible for managing the government relations activities for RAI Services Company across a 10-state region, ensuring strategic alignment and effective advocacy. Working closely with the Government Affairs Leadership Team, this position will develop, advance, and execute public policy engagement strategies and initiatives within the region. The incumbent will lead cross functionally to collectively establish plans to address important issues and priorities, such as tobacco harm reduction. Your key responsibilities will include:- Develops and executes the strategic and tactical legislative and public-policy priorities and initiatives in alignment with company's goals to drive impactful outcomes.
- Ensures the successful management of highly effective lobbying consultants and the implementation of grassroots operations in assigned region.
- Communicates, collaborates, and negotiates with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to positively shape legislative and regulatory outcomes. Develops state-specific talking points in partnership with colleagues.
- Effectively engages with elected and policy officials in assigned region and with national and state political, legislative, and third-party business organizations to maximize the capability of all legislative support systems.
- Collaborates cross-functionally to formulate and implement RAI Services Company legislative activities consistent with A Better Tomorrow vision statement.
- Recommends political contributions based on input from state legislative counsel and in accordance with Company guidelines.
- Manages budgets effectively for assigned region, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
- Oversees special legislative or other projects, as required.
- Monitors and analyzes legislative and regulatory activities affecting the tobacco industry to inform strategic decisions
- Analyzes evolving business, legal, and regulatory risks along with their potential impact on litigation, governance, and external relations in order to develop mitigation strategies and ensure strategic alignment.
- Communicates with RAI Services Company engagement on legislative developments and work with business leaders on impact.
- 8 - 10+ years working in a corporate, political, or legislative environment.
- Experience managing employees or external consultants.
- Experience in developing, leading, and coordinating special legislative or other projects.
- Development and implementation of strategies.
- Bachelor's degree (BA or BS)
- Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must be a strategic thinker with strong influencing skills.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Benefit Information The following is a general summary of the competitive compensation and benefit plans we offer:- 401(k) plan that offers opportunity to save on pre- and post-tax basis up to 50 percent of eligible compensation.
- Company matches 100 percent of employee pre-tax/Roth (401k) contributions up to six percent
