Position Summary: This position requires the driver to work on a team to prepare the road for application and direct traffic, as well as operate and maintain the distributor, dump, and sweeper trucks. Must currently hold a CDL Class A or Class B license.

Duties:

  • Assist with closing and reopening roadways, setting up and taking down cones and signage, flagging traffic, and cleaning the road for the rejuvenating application.
  • When needed, walk to each resident's home or business to pass out flyers informing them of pending roadwork.
  • Speak to residents and business owners to answer questions.
  • Load the trucks with the product.
  • Operate and maintain a distributor truck, dump truck, or street sweeper (depending on CDL endorsements).

  • Responsible for the proper application of products to the roadway.
  • Keep issued work truck clean and performing. Troubleshoot issues, conduct routine maintenance, fill out maintenance logs, and perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Effectively communicate directions and orders over a 2-way radio.
  • Follow all DOT rules and regulations
  • Record all drive time and keep accurate records of expenses.
  • Report any safety hazards or unsafe conditions, as well as any DOT violations (including but not limited to HOS)
  • Learn how to operate, maintain, and drive all trucks for cross-training purposes

Are you qualified?

  • Minimum age 21
  • Must have a valid CDL license with a current medical card
  • Specific equipment experience is a plus, but will train the right person
  • Frequent overnight travel across the SE region. MUST be able to travel 3 weeks at a time.
  • Prior road crew construction experience, mechanical aptitude, and customer service skills are a plus
  • Routine background, alcohol, and drug testing
  • Passing grade on flagger course
