Toolroom/Shipping & Receiving Coordinator
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to manage the Toolroom and Shipping & Receiving operations. This dual-purpose role is critical to maintaining the flow of production by ensuring all tools, dies, and fixtures are maintained, tracked, and ready for use. Additionally, this position oversees the accurate receipt of incoming materials and the sourcing of necessary consumables to keep our shipyard operating at peak efficiency. The ideal candidate will combine technical knowledge of marine tools with rigorous organizational skills and a commitment to safety compliance. Hours:
- Typical working hours are 40 hours per week
- Work that exceeds 40 hours is considered overtime
- A 10-minute paid morning break is taken daily
- A 30-minute unpaid lunch break is provided
- Ensure strict adherence to all Health & Safety regulations and maintain a clean, hazard-free work environment.
- Responsible for checking equipment and ensuring safety measures are in place before use or distribution.
- All workers are required to follow OSHA regulations and company-specific safety policies.
Basic tools that are provided by the Employee :
- Steel-Toed Safety Boots
- Oversee the daily operations of the tool room, focusing on the maintenance, repair, and organization of tools, dies, and fixtures.
- Manage the systematic check-in and check-out process for staff, maintaining precise records of usage and tracking any lost or damaged equipment.
- Maintain "min/max" inventory levels for all tools and consumables to ensure immediate availability for production schedules.
- Improve efficiency in tool storage and accessibility to minimize downtime for shipyard crews.
- Maintain the overall upkeep, organization, and cleanliness of the tool room and receiving areas.
- Safely remove items from transport vehicles and perform thorough inspections for visible damage.
- Verify deliveries by matching items against packing lists and original Purchase Orders (PO), confirming SKU numbers and quantities.
- Document all discrepancies, including damages, shortages, or overages, on the Bill of Lading (BOL) or receiving reports with photographic evidence.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to improve reliability and reduce lead times.
- Safely remove items from transport vehicles and perform thorough inspections for visible damage.
- Source additional tools or specialized services from external vendors as needed.
- Generate and manage Purchase Orders (POs) for vendors to ensure a steady supply of materials.
- Coordinate with supervisors to identify and fulfill their specific supply needs for upcoming projects.
- Arrange for specialized external repairs, such as welding, porta-powers, and mag drills, when in-house maintenance is not sufficient.
- Use computer systems to track inventory, generate reports, and process procurement documentation accurately.
- Create and upkeep digitized records of orders, PO numbers, tool maintenance logs, safety checks, receiving reports, and other critical documents.
- Frequent walking and standing on uneven or wet surfaces while receiving shipments.
- Lifting and handling heavy tools and equipment (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
- Bending, reaching, and crouching to access inventory or inspect incoming goods.
- Work is performed in outdoor conditions with regular exposure to the elements, including extreme heat, rain, and cold.
- Exposure to noise, vibration, and water spray typical of a shipyard environment.
- Computer proficiency: Must be proficient in computer software (Microsoft Office/Excel), internet usage, and office equipment (scanner/printer), with strong file management skills.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of tool maintenance and shipyard-related equipment.
- Professional Skills: Strong attention to detail, communication, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
If a duty is being performed during normal operating hours the following PPE will be worn on the yard. Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Ear Plugs, and Safety Toed Shoes. Respirators And Fall Protection is to be worn when working in areas that require additional protection. Employees are often required to perform other jobs beyond the essential functions of their primary job. These jobs could consist of, but not be limited to, assisting other employees in the cleaning and picking up of debris from other areas where work is performed, partnering with employees to complete work with more stringent deadlines. Filling in temporarily for an absent employee TEL Staffing complies with regulations enforced by the EEOC. TEL Staffing is a drug-free workplace. This position may be Direct-Hire or Temp-to-Hire.
