Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

  • The Associate Medical Director is a TrustBridge, Inc. employee responsible for the direction of the care and treatment of patients served by the Hospice Care Groups, in cooperation with the patients attending physician.
  • The Associate Medical Director is responsible for determining prognosis and eligibility for hospice services, as well as providing medical guidance to the interdisciplinary Care Group employees and volunteers in the management of the patient's plan of care.
  • He/she strives to ensure excellent care and service as evidenced by AIM measures, patient/family satisfaction survey, and/or other quality indicators as defined by the organization.
  • He/she serves as liaison between the organization and both the medical community and the community-at-large.
  • He/she acts as an ambassador and an advocate for hospice services, as well as all services in the TrustBridge continuum of care.

Qualifications

A. Education/Regulatory Requirements:

  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy.
  • Full and unrestricted Florida State License pursuant to Chapter 458 or 459 F.S; DEA licensure.
  • No current or past sanctions by a State or Federal Govt. Agency, no exclusions from participating in Medicare/Medicaid and no pending proceedings involving such sanctions or exclusions.
  • Receive at least 5 CME credits per licensing cycle in End of Life Care.
  • Complete all eight Unipac self-study books and submit post-test questions to become part of permanent personnel file or be Certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
  • Certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine within 30 months of eligibility and/or other proven quality experience.

B. Skills:

  • Demonstrate ongoing, proven competencies.
  • Expertise in Hospice medical services; knowledge of the ethical issues of terminal illness care; background in palliative care with particular emphasis in the control of symptoms related to terminal illnesses.
  • Able to be flexible in adapting patient care plans to the needs, issues, beliefs and values of the patient/family unit.
  • Possess the ability to drive, a reliable car, a good driving record, automobile insurance, a valid Florida Drivers license and basic knowledge of the county territory.

C. Professional Requirements:

  • Sensitivity to the unique psychological, spiritual and sociological needs and issues of Hospice patients and families.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, public speaking skills, and community involvement background.

D. Language Skills:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
