Construction Estimator - Shell Construction
Location: MetroWest, Orlando, FL
Our client is a rapidly-growing leader in shell construction. They are looking for an Estimator with PlanSwift experience and a strong understanding of Slab, Block, Framing, Roofing, Siding, and Door & Trim scopes.
Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret residential and commercial construction plans and specifications.
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs using PlanSwift for the following scopes:
- Concrete Slabs & Footings
- CMU Block Masonry
- Wood Framing (floor, wall, roof systems)
- Roofing (shingles, tile, metal)
- Exterior Siding (Hardie, vinyl, stucco base)
- Doors, Windows, and Interior Trim Packages
- Create and submit detailed cost estimates and scope breakdowns.
- Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and suppliers to maintain accurate pricing and availability.
- Track changes in project scope and update estimates accordingly.
- Maintain database of historical job costs for future benchmarking.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of estimating experience in residential or commercial construction.
- Proficiency in PlanSwift is mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of relevant construction materials and methods across all listed scopes.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in takeoffs and proposals.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel or estimating-related software a plus.
Bonus if you have:
- Experience with Florida building codes and permitting.
- Background in working directly with builders, developers, or GCs.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
