Vaco is hiring a JR Quality Engineer

Location: Oakland Park, FL

Compensation: $80-$89k/annually

Position Purpose

The Quality Engineer will support the design, development, and implementation of an effective Quality Management System (QMS) while establishing key quality metrics and driving continuous improvement across products and manufacturing processes.

This role will analyze and resolve product and process quality issues, develop inspection and testing requirements, manage non-conformances and corrective actions, and utilize statistical techniques to improve process and product performance.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Management & Continuous Improvement

• Design, develop, and implement a Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001:2015
• Establish and track key quality metrics
• Implement statistical tools and methodologies to improve product and process performance
• Identify opportunities for continuous quality improvement
• Develop production process controls to ensure product compliance, consistency, and performance

Quality Documentation & Process Controls

• Develop and maintain:
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Work Instructions
  • Acceptance Test Procedures
  • Inspection and testing instructions
• Develop Quality Control Plans for specific production lines and manufacturing processes
• Develop quality control sampling plans
• Prepare formal quality and test reports in accordance with company procedures

Quality Analysis & Corrective Action

• Analyze and resolve product and manufacturing process quality issues
• Manage non-conformances and corrective actions
• Evaluate and manage customer complaints and associated corrective actions
• Apply statistical techniques to product and process controls
• Assist with product design and product quality analysis

Supplier & Product Quality

• Perform on-site quality audits
• Manage supplier corrective actions
• Develop test plans supporting new product development projects and product releases
• Partner with internal teams to ensure quality requirements are incorporated throughout the manufacturing process

Additional Responsibilities

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• 2–4 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment , or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• 2–4 years of Quality Assurance experience
• Experience developing and implementing Quality Management Systems
• Manufacturing quality and process improvement experience

Preferred Certifications

• ASQ certifications are a plus, including:
  • Lean Six Sigma
  • Quality Auditor
  • Quality Engineer

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015
• Quality Management Systems (QMS)
• Corrective Action / Root Cause Analysis
• Non-Conformance Management
• Quality Control Plans
• Statistical Process Control and quality metrics
• SOP and Work Instruction development
• Inspection and testing procedures
• Supplier quality and auditing
• Microsoft Office and general business software
• Minitab or similar statistical analysis software
