Aviation Ground Support Equipment Technician – Diesel/Hydraulic Systems (MCO)

Schedule: Full-time day shift | Compensation: Pay commensurate with experience | Travel: 30%–40%

Company: Quantem Aviation Services — a leading provider of aircraft and cargo handling, warehousing, mail processing, terminal services, and GSE fueling and maintenance.

Your day on the ramp

Start your morning at Orlando International (MCO) with a quick assessment of overnight equipment status. You’ll review maintenance logs, prioritize work orders, and jump into inspections on tugs, bobtails, forklifts, and service trucks. Throughout the day you’ll diagnose diesel powertrains, electrical and hydraulic systems, and return critical ground support equipment to service so flights stay on schedule. You’ll coordinate with operations leaders, document work thoroughly, and brief the next shift on open items before heading out—sometimes to another QAS station—when business needs call.

What you’ll do

  • Conduct routine and non-routine inspections on GSE, trucks, and servicing equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs across diesel engines, electrical circuits, and hydraulic systems; respond to assigned maintenance needs.
  • Maintain complete, accurate records; use manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Communicate equipment status to teammates and leadership; provide clear handoffs for the following shift.
  • Travel to other Quantem stations as needed to support operations.
  • Follow airline and QAS procedures; reinforce our mission, values, and purpose in day-to-day work.
  • Work safely and in compliance with applicable environmental laws and permits.

  • Your own basic hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers, pliers, volt meter, sockets and wrenches up to 1", and up to 1/2" drive).
  • Comfort with day-shift schedules including weekends and holidays; able to travel for training when needed.
  • Ability to travel 30% or more each year.
  • Knowledge of fluids, diesel-powered equipment, and common tools—their use, repair, and maintenance.
  • Hands-on skill with manuals, schematics, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Diagnostic experience on diesel GSE used by ground handlers (tugs, bobtails, forklifts, etc.).
  • Direct experience with electrical and hydraulic systems.
