Overview:
The Medical Assistant / Medical Scribe plays a critical role in supporting healthcare providers by ensuring accurate, real-time documentation during patient encounters. Under the direct supervision of the medical provider, the Scribe accompanies the provider during patient exams to document detailed notes into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). This role also includes administrative responsibilities that enhance provider efficiency, patient flow, and overall clinic productivity and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accompany the physician during patient visits to accurately transcribe clinical information in real time into the EMR.

• Prepare and assemble medical charts and documentation prior to each patient visit.

• Ensure compliance with documentation protocols, including attestation with scribe name, title, supervising physician, date, and time.

• Update patient records with history, physical exams, medications, lab results, and other pertinent health information.

• Prepare and submit documentation for physician review and authentication following facility-specific procedures.

• Monitor and document the timing and results of basic laboratory and screening tests.

• Perform receptionist duties and patient call-backs after clinic hours.

• Support physicians and staff by performing additional clerical tasks to optimize clinic workflow and provider productivity.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease processes, medications, and lab values.

• Familiarity with medical transcription guidelines and EMR systems.

• Excellent command of English grammar, punctuation, and written communication.

• Strong coordination between listening, typing, and visual attention.

• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

• Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

• Demonstrated reliability and punctuality in a clinical setting.

• Ability to remain composed and efficient under pressure and tight deadlines.
