The Bureau of Field Operations is responsible for the survey and certification process of health care facilities across the State of Florida.

These surveys ensure that all state licensed and federally certified health care facilities meet the established state and/or federal requirements and patients and residents receive safe, quality health care.

Field Operations staff also ensure the safety of residents in health care facilities when emergencies such as natural disasters occur.

The Work You'll Do:

This position may require extensive travel, including significant overnight travel.

Successful completion of a criminal background investigation is a condition of employment.

The primary function of the Health Facility Evaluator II is to conduct inspections utilizing an established survey process.

The survey process includes evaluation of health care facilities for state licensure and federal certification requirements for participation under Medicare/Medicaid.

The incumbent will document findings and complete written reports of survey findings.

The incumbent may be required to perform surveys as an individual, team member or team leader.

As assigned by management, this position is required to successfully complete the Surveyor Minimum Qualificatio/ns Test within the first 12 months of employment as required by Sections 1819(g)(2)(c)(ii) of the Social Security Act, as amended, and Article IV(B) of the Agreement pursuant to Section 1864 of the Social Security Act.

The incumbent must be proficient with computer equipment and software programs, such as Microsoft Word and Outlook, as well as smart phone technology.

The incumbent must also be available to work before and after normal work hours including weekends and holidays.

This position has been identified as mission essential.

The incumbent in this position may be required to work during the weekend or on holidays.

In addition, mission essential personnel will be required to work during disasters, to include but not limited to, work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.

Emergency work may involve the incumbent to work in another county or staffing location to assist other State Agencies with emergency work.

Emergency duties may include, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

Three (3) years professional or nonprofessional health care licensure, regulation and/or certification experience is required.

Preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

BACKGROUND SCREENING

It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration that any applicant being considered for employment must successfully complete a State and National criminal history check as a condition of employment before beginning employment, and, if applicable, also be screened in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, F.S., and Chapter 408, F.S. Background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for State and Federal criminal records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and may include local criminal history checks through local law enforcement agencies.
