Operations Manager (OM) – Pavement Maintenance Operations

Appell Striping of Tampa Bay is seeking a driven, hands-on Operations Manager to help lead and grow our pavement maintenance operations. This is not a “sit behind a desk” management position. The ideal candidate is willing to lead from the front — helping manage operations while also working directly in the field alongside crews, especially during the early stages of growth.
The Operations Manager will oversee daily operations, scheduling, crew management, customer communication, and overall execution of projects while helping build a scalable operation. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in leadership, organization, production, and building a strong team culture.

Appell Striping of Tampa Bay provides professional pavement maintenance services for commercial property owners, property managers, and businesses throughout the Tampa Bay region. Our services include line striping, sealcoating, crack filling, pothole repair, and other asphalt maintenance solutions designed to improve safety, enhance curb appeal, extend pavement life, and support ADA compliance.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Project Management
- Oversee daily scheduling of crews, trucks, equipment, and materials
- Coordinate line striping, sealcoating, crack filling, pothole repair, and other pavement maintenance services
- Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and professionally
- Adjust schedules based on weather and project changes
- Maintain organization across field and office operations
- Ensure projects are completed according to Appell standards
Hands-On Field Leadership
- Work directly in the field on active jobs as needed
- Assist crews with production and job execution
- Lead by example through hard work and professionalism
- Help train newer crew members in the field
- Be willing to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and long shifts during peak season
- Help bridge operational gaps while the company continues building and expanding crews
Crew Management & Team Development
- Hire, train, and manage field employees
- Build dependable crews and strong company culture
- Hold team members accountable for quality and professionalism
- Conduct daily production and jobsite coordination
- Ensure crews maintain clean trucks, trailers, and equipment
- Promote safety and efficiency across all operations
Sales & Business Growth Support
- Assist with estimates and job walkthroughs
- Help follow up on leads and proposals
- Identify opportunities for additional services
- Support company growth initiatives and operational expansion
- Help build long-term recurring commercial relationships
Customer Communication
- Communicate professionally with customers, property managers, and clients
- Handle customer questions and job updates
- Resolve issues quickly and professionally
- Ensure a high-quality customer experience from start to finish
- Help maintain long-term customer relationships
Financial & Operational Oversight
- Help monitor labor, materials, and overall job efficiency
- Maintain awareness of job profitability and production goals
- Ensure crews operate efficiently and avoid unnecessary waste
- Assist with invoice completion and project closeout procedures
- Help improve systems and operational organization as the company scales
Daily Responsibilities
- Review schedules and coordinate crews
- Communicate with customers and field staff
- Visit and oversee active jobsites
- Assist crews in the field when needed
- Ensure equipment and materials are ready
- Solve operational issues quickly
- Maintain quality control standards
- Support production and job completion
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications
- Previous experience leading crews in construction, paving, asphalt maintenance, landscaping, utilities, or a similar field
- Experience operating trucks, trailers, and commercial equipment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds and work outdoors in Florida weather
