Medical Assistant-PCC - Weston (Full Time, Days)
- Answers telephones, routes calls, takes, and relays accurate phone messages. F: Daily/ T: 1-8 hours R: Individual
- Prepares and administers medications to patients as directed by provider. F: Daily/ T: as needed R: Individual
- For primary care Medical Assistants; prepares and administers immunizations to patients as directed by provider. F: Daily/ T: as needed R:
- Communicates all significant changes in patient conditions or behavior to clinicians and physicians. F: Daily/ T: as needed R: Individual
- Ensures all medical record/patient charts contains necessary documentation for medical appointments. Completes charting, collects, and distributes medical record documents related to patient. F: Daily/ T: 1-8 hours R: Individual
- Gathers data for general information, special reports, contacting other employees, departments, agencies, and individuals for additional material. May prepare reports for provider approval. F: As Needed/ T: as needed R: Individual
- Maintains/prepares billing charge and reconciliation, assist in completing claims forms, and answers patient questions in reference to payment status. F: Daily/ T: 1-3 hours R: Individual
- Runs reports for credit cards, super bills, and etc. Prepares final bookkeeping of assigned cash drawer and prepares and makes timely deposits. F: Daily/ T: 1-3 hours R: Individual
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area and patient rooms. F: Daily/ T: ongoing R: Individual
- Operates and maintains equipment in proper working condition/order. Ensures medical supplies and inventory are maintained. F: Daily/ T: ongoing R: Individual
- Performs and documents vital signs and measurements. Provides and documents patient and family education. F: Daily/ T: 1-8 hours R: Individual
- Assists physician with simple procedures and patient transport. Collects specimens and distributes to laboratory for results. F: Daily/ T: 1-8 hours R: Individual
- Prepares for patient visits by preparing /pulling charts, printing super bills, and informing physician and other clinical staff of changes in schedule. F: Daily/ T: 1-3 hours R: Individual
- Schedules appointments, diagnostic, therapeutic, verifies medical appointments, obtains and/or verify authorizations. F: Daily/ T: 1-3 hours R: Individual
- Processes medical documentation for office visit and follow-up with patient when required. F: Daily/ T: 1-3 hours R: Individual
- Serves as receptionist, conducts patient check-in, registration, collects fee for service/co-payments, and verifies referrals, insurance data, patient’s address & other pertinent information. F: Daily/ T: 1-8 hours R: Individual
- Tracks all samples per policy before providing to patients to ensure proper coordination with physician orders or requests. F: Daily/ T: 1-3 hours R: Individual
- Enters electronic order for lab, x-ray and medication/prescriptions for provider review and approval in electronic medical record. F: Daily/ T: 1-3 hours R: Individual
- For primary care Medical Assistant: performs and manages labs as ordered by the medical doctor to ensure regulatory requirements. F: Daily/ T: as needed R:
- Process refills as directed by provider and written protocols. F: Daily/ T: 1-3 hours R: Individual
- Posses one of the following:
- Proof of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Nursing Degree: ASN, BSN
- LPN license from Florida - must maintain certification active and in good standing throughout employment
- Paramedic or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license from Florida - must maintain certification active and in good standing throughout employment
- Current Medical Assistant Certification: must maintain certification active and in good standing throughout employment
- Certified Nursing Assistant (excluded in primary care sites) from Florida
- Candidates who do not possess one of the above eligible licenses and certification requirements may still be considered if they meet one of the below:
- Prior medical assistant experience in a physician practice and able to produce at least one of the above requirements within 6 months of hire
- Candidate possesses 25+ years of experience of continuous medical assistant experience in a physician practice
- American Heart Association BLS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
- High School education or equivalent preferred.
- 1 year of medical assistant experience preferred
- Fluent in both English and Spanish highly preferred.
- Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Basic computer and math skills.
- Excellent patient management, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- 1-2 years of physician office experience preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience coordinating clinical care for patients preferred.
- Strong problem solving, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and strong time management skills.
- Able to float to various Primary Care Centers while maintaining the delivery of clinical excellence and high-quality service.
- Able to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
