Staff Accountant II

Fifteen Group Capital, LLC
Miami, FL

Job Description

Job Description

ABOUT FIFTEEN GROUP CAPITAL

Fifteen Group Capital LLC is a Miami-based real estate private investment firm with a sharp focus on opportunity-driven, value-added acquisitions across multifamily, commercial, and mixed-use assets in Florida, Texas, and the broader Sunbelt. We are not a large institution — we are a lean, high-performing team of investment professionals who move quickly, think creatively, and build lasting value in markets where others see complexity.

Our portfolio spans multiple entities, properties, and operating companies, and our Finance & Accounting team sits at the center of it all — providing the financial infrastructure that supports every acquisition decision, capital deployment, and asset management initiative we undertake. If you are looking for a role where your work is visible, your contributions matter, and there is a clear path to grow, this is it.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Staff Accountant II to join our Miami headquarters and become a key member of our Finance & Accounting team. In this role, you will work directly with our Controller to manage general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close across a dynamic multi-entity real estate portfolio. This is a hands-on role with real responsibility from day one — you will own your accounts, build your expertise across multiple entities, and have direct visibility into the financial operations of an active investment firm.

This is an on-site position. We work collaboratively, move fast, and believe in building a team that shows up together. If you thrive in a structured but entrepreneurial environment, enjoy variety, and want to work on a portfolio that is always growing, we would love to meet you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Own Your Accounts & Drive the Close

  • Prepare and post journal entries across multiple entities including Fifteen Group Capital, FAM Residential, and affiliated operating companies.
  • Own a set of balance sheet accounts — cash, AR, AP, prepaid expenses, accruals — and reconcile them monthly with accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Play an active role in the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring all assigned accounts are closed on schedule and properly documented.
  • Research and resolve reconciling items quickly, escalating issues to the Controller with clear analysis and proposed resolution.

Support Financial Reporting That Matters

  • Help prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements — income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements — across the firm’s entities and properties.
  • Compile financial data, variance analyses, and management reports used directly by ownership for investment and operational decisions.
  • Prepare property-level financial reports in coordination with asset management and property management teams.
  • Support budget preparation and forecasting by delivering clean, well-organized historical data and schedules.

Keep the Engine Running — AP, AR & Cash

  • Review and process vendor invoices with proper coding, approval workflows, and documentation across multiple entities.
  • Assist with accounts receivable tracking, tenant billing reconciliations, and cash disbursement management.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all entity and property-level operating accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Coordinate intercompany transactions and cash transfers in partnership with the Controller.

Support Compliance, Tax & Audit Readiness

  • Maintain accurate, GAAP-compliant financial records and support annual tax preparation and external audits.
  • Assist with 1099 preparation, vendor documentation, and year-end compliance filings.
  • Support sales tax, property tax, and other compliance requirements as directed.

Collaborate Across the Firm

  • Partner with property management, asset management, and acquisitions teams to respond to financial data requests and reporting needs.
  • Provide accounting support for new property acquisitions, dispositions, and entity formations.
  • Assist with ad hoc financial analyses and special projects as directed by the Controller.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Experience & Education

  • 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience — real estate, property management, private equity, or a multi-entity environment strongly preferred.
  • Solid foundation in general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA candidacy or active CPA license is a strong plus.

Skills & Strengths

  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and its practical application across multiple entities.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to getting things right.
  • Comfortable managing multiple deadlines simultaneously without losing accuracy or composure.
  • A collaborative team player who communicates clearly, takes direction well, and brings a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Self-starter who can work independently on assigned tasks and knows when to escalate.

Technical Proficiency

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including formulas and pivot tables.
  • Experience with accounting software; Yardi, Sage, Oracle NetSuite, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Comfortable learning and adapting to new systems and platforms in a growing firm.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Competitive Compensation. Base salary of $65,000–$80,000 commensurate with experience, plus an annual performance bonus of 8–15% of base salary.
  • Career Growth. A clearly defined career path from Staff Accountant II to Senior Accountant to Controller within a growing investment platform.
  • Direct Exposure. Work directly with firm leadership in a lean, high-visibility team where your contributions are seen and recognized.
  • Comprehensive Benefits. Health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with company match; paid time off; and paid holidays.
  • Dynamic Portfolio. Exposure to a diverse multi-entity real estate portfolio spanning multifamily, commercial, and mixed-use assets across Florida, Texas, and the Southeast.

Collaborative Culture. A team-oriented, entrepreneurial work environment where smart people work hard, support each other, and take pride in what they build
