Position Summary:
As the Edibles Kitchen Supervisor, you will assume a pivotal leadership role within our edibles production facility, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the edibles team. Your primary responsibility will be to lead and manage the edibles production and packaging process, ensuring adherence to protocols, safety standards, and quality control measures. Your duties include supervising and guiding edibles technicians, monitoring production and packaging procedures, maintaining equipment, and conducting quality checks on edible products.

Essential Functions:
Collaborating closely with management, you will play a crucial role in optimizing edibles production and packaging methodologies, troubleshooting equipment issues, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. Your leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to upholding industry standards will be essential in driving the success and efficiency of our edibles operations. The following essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Policies + Procedures + Kitchen Operations
  • Manage and oversee production and packaging procedures, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with established protocols.
  • Monitor production and packaging equipment, troubleshoot issues, and optimize methodologies to maximize yield and product quality.
  • Conduct thorough quality control checks on edibles products, ensuring consistency, potency, and food-safety.
  • Develop and enforce quality assurance procedures to meet regulatory requirements and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Maintain and manage production and packaging equipment, coordinating repairs, calibrations, and preventive maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and collaboration with maintenance staff for efficient resolution.
  • Maintain accurate records of production and packaging, including batch logs, inventory, quality control reports, and SOP adherence.
  • Generate detailed reports on production and packaging processes, yields, deviations, and equipment maintenance.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, handling hazardous materials, and waste disposal in compliance with industry regulations.
  • Conduct safety training sessions, monitor compliance, and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Identify areas for process enhancements, workflow optimizations, and efficiency improvements within the extraction lab.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including extraction, quality control, and logistics, to align activities and achieve production goals.
  • Communicate effectively with management, providing updates, recommendations, and addressing operational challenges.
  • Follow and implement the company’s core values including respect, diversity, sustainability, research, and service.

Team Member Management
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Edibles Team members, setting clear expectations, and fostering a culture of compliance, productivity, and teamwork.
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the edibles team, assigning tasks, managing workloads, and ensuring adherence to deadlines. Maintain an organized workflow to optimize efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of motivation, engagement, and accountability among team members, encouraging collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that team members follow company policies, SOPs, food-safety, and compliance standards, providing guidance and reinforcement as necessary.
  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance the team's skills and knowledge in production and packaging processes, systems, and relevant industry standards.
  • Oversee and co-manage the Edibles Team, including hiring, training, and scheduling.
  • Provide feedback and documentation to the Kitchen Manager to assist in team member performance evaluations.
  • Serve as the “resource” for all team members for questions regarding department policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Encourage open communication, actively listen to team member feedback, and address concerns to maintain a positive work environment.
  • Acknowledge and appreciate employees’ contributions, providing recognition for exceptional performance.
  • Efficiently allocate resources to optimize productivity and achieve team objectives.

Qualifications + Education:
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older
  • A degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food-science, or a related scientific field is required. An adequate combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a professional kitchen setting or food manufacturing environment, preferably in the cannabis industry.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a supervisory role is required, training, mentoring, and coaching team members to enhance their skills and proficiency in food production processes.
  • Advanced edibles production experience.
  • Advanced food packaging experience.
  • Proficiency with techniques used in edibles manufacturing and equipment associated with the processes, such as candy and chocolate manufacturing, or automated packaging.
  • Strong understanding of quality control processes, compliance standards, and regulations in the cannabis industry.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of state-specific cannabis laws and regulatory compliance is non-negotiable.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities for seamless collaboration across all company levels.
  • Effective decision-making skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent organizational skills with acute attention to detail.
  • Proficient in both oral and written communication.
  • Able to prioritize tasks effectively and work in a heavily regulated environment.
Working Conditions
The employee works in either a dispensary and/or cultivation environment. The employee may be required to use a computer, telephone, and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The position also requires a high level of attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and efficiency. The employee must be able to work in a fast-faced environment, handling routine and reoccurring tasks.

The employee will work in environments that include exposure to, but not limited to dirt, fertilizers, dusts, odors, fumes, high heat, low temperature, high and low humidity, high noise levels, vibrations, water, dry salts, allergens, pollen, dust, plant pathogens, other volatile organic compounds, heights, indoor A/C, no A/C, and other environmental variables.

The position also requires a high level of scheduling flexibility and will occasionally include evening, weekend, and holiday work hours. The employee will encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday and must have high regard for self-management, time management, and scheduling of activities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time, move around, and clearly communicate. The employee must constantly position oneself to move freely. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance. The employee should have the ability to meet the physical demands of lifting, carrying and positioning heavy objects and should be familiar and comfortable using the assistance of push/pull manual transport equipment (ex: pallet jack, hand truck). The employee will often need to use a ladder, with up to a 12’ extension and general hardware tools.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
