Substitute Preschool Teacher (As-Needed)

Small Blessings Preschool (Hyde Park United Methodist Church) - Tampa, FL

Do you love working with young children but need a flexible schedule? Small Blessings Preschool is seeking caring, dependable Substitute Preschool Teachers to join our team on an as-needed basis. This is a wonderful opportunity for retired educators, college students, stay-at-home parents, experienced caregivers, or anyone who enjoys working with children and is looking for flexible, rewarding work.

Our substitutes support classrooms serving children ages 2–5 in a warm, play-based, faith-centered environment where children feel loved, engaged, and excited to learn.

What You'll Do

• Step into classrooms as needed to support children ages 2–5.
• Maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.
• Follow classroom routines and lesson plans provided by the Lead Teacher.
• Support children's learning through play, exploration, and positive interactions.
• Assist with classroom activities, transitions, meals, outdoor play, and daily routines.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow staff members.
• Help ensure classrooms remain organized, clean, and welcoming.

What We're Looking For

• A warm, positive, and patient attitude with a genuine love for young children.
• Dependable, flexible, and comfortable working with different age groups and classroom teams.
• Experience working with children (preschool, childcare, nannying, camps, babysitting, teaching, or similar experience) preferred.
• High school diploma required.
• CDA, 45-hour Florida Child Care Training, or early childhood coursework is a plus (or willingness to obtain required training if applicable).
• Ability to actively supervise young children and meet the physical requirements of the position.

Job Type: Part-time, As Needed

Pay: $15–$18 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
