Role Overview
The Construction and Commissioning Mechanical Engineer III is an experienced-level role responsible for providing technical support to Gas Turbine driven power generation projects, with a primary focus on Gas Turbine installation, alignment, mechanical systems integration, commissioning support, and resolution of field technical issues. We are looking for candidates with strong hands-on and field experience supporting Gas Turbine construction, commissioning, troubleshooting, or field service activities.
The primary focus of the role is to support site execution through timely resolution of technical issues, including:
- Supporting resolution of field technical issues (PARs, RFIs/TQs, RCAs)
- Assisting with construction and commissioning challenges
- Supporting procedures creation and updates
The engineer works with a high level of independence to coordinate with site teams, TFAs (Technical Field Advisors), Engineering, Quality, and Suppliers, ensuring that issues are resolved efficiently and in alignment with OEM requirements, contract specifications, and field conditions.
In parallel, the role supports the development, review, and improvement of procedures, ensuring that lessons learned from site execution are captured and integrated into future deliverables.
This role supports Simple Cycle (SC), Combined Cycle (CCGT), and Combined Heat and Power (CCHP) projects and is expected to develop technical knowledge while operating with moderate supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Expected to demonstrate strong independence and responsibility. They should be able to evaluate and apply methods and techniques, implement standard engineering criteria, and use independent judgment with limited supervision.
- The ideal candidate should have a profound understanding of gas turbine construction (mandatory) and familiarity with steam turbine construction, such as foundations, skids,
modules, bearing alignment, coupling alignment, etc. This knowledge is not just beneficial but crucial for the successful execution of the role. Knowledge of main power plant auxiliary components, including Lubrication system, Fuel Gas system, Air cooling systems, and other auxiliary equipment.
- Provide resolution of PARs, RFIs/TQs, and field issues supporting construction and commissioning activities. Interface with site teams, engineering, quality, and suppliers to resolve technical issues efficiently. Review field conditions and provide engineering guidance to support safe and compliant execution.
- Perform and support root cause analysis (RCA) for field issues, ensuring solutions aligned with design, procedures, and contract requirements.
- Develop and review mechanical erection and commissioning procedures. Interpret engineering documents (P&IDs, drawings, specifications) and incorporate lessons learned from site execution into procedure updates.

- Support field execution by reviewing installation practices, verifying compliance with specifications, and identifying potential risks or deviations.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, company procedures, and contractual requirements. Promote safe work practices across all activities.
- Support mentoring junior engineers and contribute to team collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- A bachelor's degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering. 7-10 years of experience in power generation, with demonstrated hands-on experience supporting gas turbine installation and commissioning activities. Familiarity with scheduling tools (Primavera P6), ISO procedures, and OSHA requirements is an asset
- English proficiency required. Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, drawings, and standards. Additional languages (Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese) are a plus
