Job Summary:
A Medical Receptionist , or Front Desk Receptionist , is responsible for interacting with guest in a healthcare setting and managing administrative tasks for the medical team. Their duties include scheduling patient appointments according to the Doctor's availability, explaining intake forms to new patients, and processing payments after treatment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve patients by greeting and helping them, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records and accounts
- Manage all incoming phone calls and assist with referring inquiries.
- Register patients according to established protocols
- Assist patients in completing all necessary forms and documentation including medical insurance.
- Ensure patient information is accurate including billing information
- Inform patients of medical office procedures and policy
- Maintain and manage patient records
- Move patients through appointments as scheduled
- Scheduled patient appointments
- Collect co-pays and payments
- Report statistics as required
- Respond and comply with requests for information
- Complete other clerical duties as assigned
- Maintain stock of forms and office supplies
- Ensure the reception area is well-maintained, neat, and clean
- Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality
- Assist with coverage at other clinics when needed due to being short-staffed. Mileage reimbursement will apply when covering at other clinic locations.
- Any additional duties assigned by management to support the clinic
Education and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years' experience in a medical-specific role or healthcare industry
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is required for this clinic location
- Knowledge of medical and billing terminology is strongly recommended
- Proficient in Word and Excel
- eClinicalWorks (eCW) EMR experience is a plus
- Great time management and organization skills
- Excellent telephone and customer service skills
- Possesses a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism with a commitment to exceptional patient satisfaction
- Innovative, motivated, organized, and team player
- Ability to establish working relationships, resolve interpersonal conflicts, and apply basic staff etiquette in dealing with others.
- Ability to travel to other clinics when needed for coverage
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Must possess close attention to detail
- Ability to learn new procedures and adapt quickly to change
