Tire Technician - Tractor Trailer & Heavy Equipment

As a Commercial Truck and Heavy Equipment Tire Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safety and performance of a diverse fleet, including loaders, skidders, tractor trailers, and pickups. This hands-on position is ideal for those who enjoy working outdoors, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are committed to high standards of safety and service. Responsibilities
- Inspect a fleet of over 60 tractor trailer and heavy equipment tires for wear, damage, and proper inflation.
- Change, repair, and replace tires on loaders, skidders, tractor trailers, and pickups, primarily in the field.
- Use diagnostic tools to assess tire conditions and determine necessary repairs or replacements.
- Safely remove and install large tires using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Ensure proper alignment and secure installation of tires to maintain vehicle and equipment safety.
- Repair punctures and other tire damage using patching techniques.
- Perform tire rotations and balance tires to promote even wear and smooth operation.
- Maintain detailed records of tire maintenance and replacements in accordance with TIA (Tire Industry Association) standards.
- Manage fleet tire schedules to ensure timely service and replacements.
- Perform field service in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, and work early mornings and Saturdays as needed.
- Follow all safety protocols, DOT regulations, and company policies regarding tire maintenance and repairs.
- Assist in managing inventory levels of tires and related supplies.
- Keep the work area clean and organized, disposing of old tires and materials properly.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience with heavy equipment and commercial tire changes.
- Familiarity with TIA guidelines and safety standards; TIA certification preferred.
- Knowledge of tire repair and maintenance techniques for tractor trailers and heavy equipment.
- Ability to work independently in outdoor field conditions and handle physically demanding tasks.
- Strong organizational skills for record-keeping and fleet management.
- Attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and safety standards.
