Join SDMyers: Empowering the Future of Electrical Reliability

At SDMyers, we are more than a company—we are a community committed to delivering exceptional transformer services that ensure the reliability and longevity of electric power systems. As a "Good Place" company, we operate with integrity, safety, and a dedication to building lasting relationships with our customers.

We are seeking a Senior Field Services Technician to lead critical field operations that keep electrical power systems safe, reliable, and performing at their best. This role is hands-on, technical, and leadership-driven, working directly in high-voltage environments where precision, safety, and teamwork matter every day.

Location: Nationwide (Travel Required)
Schedule: Work 35 weeks per year (2 weeks on, 1 week off)
Benefits: Comprehensive package including 401(k) matching, health insurance, paid time off, and more. Position Purpose

The purpose of this position is to safely and productively lead and complete field assignments involving installation, repair, oil processing, and maintenance of energized and de-energized transformers in high-voltage substations.

This role plays a direct part in ensuring the reliability and life extension of critical electrical infrastructure that powers homes, hospitals, businesses, and entire communities. Every project completed contributes to safer systems, reduced downtime, and improved operational continuity for customers who depend on uninterrupted power.

You will serve as a technical leader in the field—guiding crews, ensuring quality execution, modeling safety behaviors, and representing SDMyers to customers in complex and high-impact environments.

  • Transformer Service & Oil Processing: Perform oil reclamation, hot oil cleaning, re-inhibiting, vacuum/retro filling, energized processing, and assist with transformer repairs and LTC work.
  • Technical Work: Support or perform electrical testing (when certified), obtain accurate oil samples, and use instrumentation such as vacuum and dew point measurement tools.
  • Equipment & Installations: Install EP products (DryMax®, SampleSafe®, IR windows) and perform minor repairs on field equipment.
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety protocols (LOTO, confined space, electrical safety), maintain accurate documentation, and ensure vehicle and equipment standards.
  • Customer & Team Interaction: Provide professional customer service, communicate effectively in the field, and maintain strong working relationships with customers and team members.

  • Ability to travel frequently, including overnight and extended assignments
Personal Attributes
  • High integrity, accountability, and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work independently and lead in the field
  • Strong communication and customer relationship skills
  • Willingness to learn through SOPs and mentorship
