The Bartender plays a vital role in representing authentic Mexican heritage and delivering elevated guest experiences rooted in tradition, community, and excellence. This role goes beyond mixing drinks it is about storytelling, culture, and hospitality. Bartenders are expected to create memorable moments by providing outstanding service, preparing cocktails with precision, and reflecting the spirit of Don Julio through every guest interaction. As cultural ambassadors, bartenders must demonstrate the company’s “Culture of Yes,” which promotes positivity, professionalism, and proactive service in every situation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet guests at the bar warmly and authentically, embodying the brand.
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks according to standardized recipes using proper measurements and garnishes.
- Share the heritage behind featured cocktails, premium tequila, and the brand’s cultural story to enrich the guest experience.
- Monitor alcohol consumption, verify valid IDs, and follow Responsible Vendor guidelines at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar during and after service.
- Restock supplies such as liquor, glassware, garnishes, napkins, and tools throughout the shift.
- Handle takeout orders, assist with bar-side food service, and ensure proper payment handling.
- Collaborate with fellow staff and assist with team-wide service support during busy periods.
- Participate in and support restaurant-hosted cultural events (e.g., Cinco de Mayo, Día de Muertos) to create immersive guest experiences.
- Actively promote drink specials and upsell featured items with charisma and knowledge.
- Complete all opening and closing duties, including equipment checks, labeling, and cleaning bar tools, machines, refrigerators, and surfaces.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and emergency procedures.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned to meet business and brand needs.
- Must be at least 21 years old (no exceptions).
- Proven bartending experience and working knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, and mixology techniques.
- Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to multitask.
- Passion for Mexican culture, hospitality, and premium tequila.
- Commitment to Don Julio’s “Culture of Yes,” which emphasizes team collaboration, proactive service, and guest-centered solutions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail.
- Professional appearance and adherence to Don Julio’s uniform, grooming, and hygiene standards.
- Must complete and maintain required certifications (SafeStaff and Responsible Vendor training).
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
- Lift and carry up to 30 pounds (e.g., liquor boxes, ice buckets, and supplies).
- Bend, reach, twist, and use manual dexterity to operate bar tools and machines.
- Visually identify ingredients, labels, and guests.
- Communicate clearly in a noisy, fast-paced setting.
