Job Title: Pipelayer – Underground Utilities (Heavy Civil)
Location: Palm Beach County, FL (with project work extending to St. Lucie County)
Job Type: Full-Time
About the Role
Our client is a commercial sitework and utility installation company serving Palm Beach and St. Lucie Counties. They are seeking an experienced Pipelayer to join their underground utility crews on active heavy civil projects — including storm drainage, water main, sanitary sewer, and force main installation.
What You'll Do
- Install storm drainage pipe (RCP, HDPE, corrugated) to grade and spec
- Install water main including tapping, fittings, and thrust restraint
- Install sanitary sewer gravity main, laterals, and manhole tie-ins
- Install force main using PVC, DIP, or HDPE with proper joint restraint/fusion methods
- Read and follow civil/utility plans, profiles, and grade sheets
- Set pipe to grade using laser levels, transits, or grade rod/string lines
- Ensure proper bedding, backfill, and compaction per project specifications
- Work safely in and around trenches, shoring, and heavy equipment
Qualifications
- 2+ years of pipelaying experience in heavy civil / underground utility construction
- Working knowledge of OSHA trench safety and excavation requirements
- Experience with drainage, water main, sanitary sewer, and force main installation
- Ability to read utility construction plans and grade sheets
- OSHA 10/30 certification preferred; Competent Person (Trenching) a plus
- Valid driver's license; CDL a plus
- Reliable attendance and ability to work as part of a crew
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in trenches, confined spaces, and outdoor conditions
- Ability to lift/move materials 50+ lbs as needed
- Willingness to work extended hours and occasional weekends as project demands require
