Forklift Operator
Position Summary
Sit-down forklift operator will use forklift to transport raw materials & finished goods between the warehouse & production areas, use an RF scanning device to scan goods and properly maintain inventory records, and load finished goods onto trailers to ship out to customers.
Essential Functions
- Inspect product load for accuracy, and safely move it around the warehouse or facility to ensure
- timely and complete delivery.
- Move controls to drive electric-powered trucks and transport materials between loading, processing, and storage areas.
- Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.
- Manually or mechanically load and unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles.
- Perform routine pre and post op inspection on vehicles and auxiliary equipment.
- Weigh materials or products, and record weight and other production data on tags or labels.
- Operate or tend automatic stacking, loading, packaging, or cutting machines.
- Identify damage and report shortages or quality deficiencies.
- Make and correct issues with counts on components in inventory.
- Fill and replenish racks in pick area to support production
- Rotate stock according to date coding (FIFO).
- Returning components from work orders while complying with safety rules.
- Staging components for work orders, while complying with safety rules.
- Operating RF equipment effectively: supplying components for different departments as needed, moving inventory through stock, following all FIFO requirements.
- Other miscellaneous duties that occur under Warehouse maintenance and sustainability (e.g. cleaning, upkeep, etc).
- Follow all EPC Safety, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Lean 5S policies and regulation guidelines, including extracting raw, FG, and component samples meeting SOP and Quality standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience
- Previous experience operating Sit-Down Forklift
- Minimum one year of previous experience in a distribution and or Manufacturing center, including receiving, pulling orders, packing and shipping preferred.
- Forklift Operator certified.
- Current Driver’s License required.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and be detail oriented.
- Ability and willingness to work closely with others and departments.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate properly.
- Basic computer skills.
Working Relationships
- Edgewell teammates, contractors and regulatory agencies.
Work Environment
- Work on night shifts and weekends may be required.
- Ability to work a 8+ hour shift standing, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment (maybe above 30 ambient degrees or below 20 ambient degrees in areas of production).
- Fast-paced, high-speed manufacturing environment.
Environmental, Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Exposure to health risks or conditions that may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
- Be aware of and follow the Environmental Policy and EH&S work instructions/procedures that apply to the job.
- Perform every job safely, for the benefit of self, co-workers, contractors, and for the protection of facilities. This includes the use of required personal protective equipment and use of safety equipment as well as safe work practices.
- Immediately report every job-related injury or illness, regardless of severity, to a supervisor.
- Assist in investigating incidents.
- Take necessary actions to correct or stop any unsafe conditions or practices.
- Actively participate in safety meetings and training.
- Review Material Data Sheet instructions before working with any chemical product.
Quality Assurance Responsibilities
- Teammates are responsible for their own quality and that of teammates within their span of control.
- Teammates are responsible for following all established Quality procedures and instructions.
- Notify supervision for corrective action if defects are found and/or parts/processes do not conform to specifications.
