The Healthcare Activities Assistant supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of engaging lifestyle and wellness programs for residents in Assisted Living, Long-Term Care, Skilled Nursing, and Memory Care. Reporting to the Healthcare Activities Manager, this role assists with individual and group activities designed to promote physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being.The Healthcare Activities Assistant works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure programs are resident-centered, inclusive, and aligned with individual interests, abilities, and care plans. This position requires creativity, organization, strong interpersonal skills, and a genuine passion for working with older adults.
The role also requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, follow written and verbal instructions, and adapt to changing priorities. The Activities Assistant must demonstrate professionalism, a service-oriented attitude, and a genuine interest in supporting a senior population while working flexible schedules, including weekends or holidays as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
Prior experience in senior living, healthcare, recreation, or activities programming preferred
Experience with event planning, creative programming, or wellness initiatives is a plusKnowledge and SkillsAssist with planning, scheduling, and facilitating daily, weekly, and monthly lifestyle programs across all healthcare settings
Lead and support individual and group activities that encourage participation and engagement
Adapt activities to meet varying physical, cognitive, and emotional needs of residents
Support holiday celebrations, themed events, and special programs including setup, facilitation, and cleanup
Promote a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment rooted in hospitality and respectMaintain accurate attendance records and ensure compliance with safety and transportation protocolsProtect resident confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and community policies
Maintain activity supplies, equipment, and program spaces in an organized and accessible manner
Perform additional duties as assigned to support resident well-being and community lifeStrong interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate, resident-focused approachAbility to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all timesExcellent organization and time-management skillsAbility to take initiative, work independently, and collaborate as part of a teamFlexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced healthcare environmentAbility to assess resident engagement and modify activities as neededBasic computer skills including email, documentation, and activity charting systems (PCC experience preferred)Physical and Work Requirements
