GEC Bridge Engineer

This position will assist the Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise design and deliver projects across the whole Turnpike system. Join our GEC Team as an imbedded Structural Engineering with an emphasis on Bridge Design. As part of our GEC team, you will be working shoulder to shoulder with FDOT to help deliver large and complex projects. Skip the pursuits, or managing people, and bring your bridge engineering expertise to our imbedded team of technical specialist.
This position supports all discipline-related technical aspects of all phases of projects. Responsibilities include applying advanced engineering methods, techniques, and analyses to provide solutions, make recommendations and resolve issues, while ensuring FDOT and industry standard guidelines, criteria and specifications are applied consistently and effectively across projects that range in scope, size, and complexity. Candidate is expected to independently apply knowledge and experience in partnership with internal project team members and external client counterparts and serve as subject matter expert advisor.
What You'll Do:
Performs independent technical reviews, makes recommendations, and provides technical guidance as requested on complex or unusual engineering projects. Provides direction to resolve technical issues as requested.
Provides technical expertise and advice to project leadership, and mentoring/support to production staff.
Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation on complex or unusual engineering projects within discipline.
Coordinates technical aspects with client counterpart and teaming partners at local leadership level for work within and across disciplines on complex or unusual engineering projects.
Develops and advises on technical consistency within and across disciplines on processes and projects.
Ensures same standard and practices are being applied.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 12 years of relevant experience, or
Master’s degree in Engineering and 11 year of relevant experience, or
PhD in Engineering and 10 years of relevant experience
What We Require:
PE
12+ yrs experience
Large project experience (recent preferred)
Limited access bridge experience (recent preferred)
Plan review experience / QC experience
Managed projects as design engineer (structural lead)
Prepared scope, units, staff hours
What We Prefer:
Master’s degree in Engineering (Structural or Bridge)
Florida experience (recent preferred)
Florida Turnpike project experience
Category 2 structures (steel, post-tensioned concrete, straddle piers, etc.) experience
Managed a team – in person and remote
Negotiated staff hours
Inter-personal communication skills
Social skills / sense of humor
Organized and self-motivated
