This role ensures that custom automation systems are assembled, wired, and tested to engineering specifications, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. The Manufacturing Supervisor leads a team of skilled technicians and assemblers, coordinating workflow, maintaining safety compliance, and driving continuous improvement across all build operations.
Production Oversight

- Monitor build progress against project schedules and proactively communicate status to Operations and Project Management teams.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and project management to ensure materials, components, and documentation are available when needed.
- Review and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, BOMs, and assembly work instructions to guide build teams.
Team Leadership
- Directly supervise a team of assemblers, electricians, and technicians; assign daily tasks and priorities.
- Conduct regular team huddles to communicate goals, address concerns, and reinforce safety and quality expectations.
- Provide on-the-floor coaching and technical guidance during complex assembly or wiring tasks.

- Lead or participate in first-article inspections, in-process checks, and final machine acceptance testing.
- Maintain a safe work environment by upholding all safety policies, conducting regular safety observations, and addressing hazards promptly.
- Investigate non-conformances and work with the quality team to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Resource & Materials Management
- Track and manage shop-floor inventory levels; coordinate with procurement to resolve shortages or component substitutions.
- Oversee the proper use, maintenance, and calibration of tools and test equipment.
- Manage labor hours effectively to stay within project budgets; report variances and recommend corrective actions.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to reduce build time, improve quality, and increase efficiency across machine-building processes.
- Champion lean manufacturing practices and 5S standards on the production floor.
- Participate in cross-functional design-for-manufacturability (DFM) reviews to improve build quality upstream.
Qualifications
Required

- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable working across engineering, operations, and customer-facing teams.
Preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, or a related field — or equivalent technical training/apprenticeship.
- Experience with custom automation, robotics integration, or control panel assembly.
- Familiarity with UL 508A industrial control panel standards and/or CE machinery directives.
- Experience with ERP or MRP systems for production tracking and materials management.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
