This position is located in Auburndale, Florida.

The Florida Division of Emergency Management plans for and responds to both natural and man-made disasters. These range from floods and hurricanes to incidents involving hazardous materials or nuclear power. The Division of Emergency Management (FDEM or Division) is the liaison between federal, state, and local agencies. FDEM prepares and implements a statewide Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan, routinely conducts extensive exercises to test state and county emergency response capabilities, provides technical assistance to local governments as they prepare emergency plans and procedures, as well as conducts emergency operations trainings for state and local government agencies.

The Division serves as the lead agency for the State Emergency Response Team (SERT), whose primary goal is the coordination of the state's efforts during disaster response and recovery. This coordination is conducted within the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) in Tallahassee. Additionally, the Division manages the State Watch Office; the 24-hours a day operation tasked with providing situational awareness to stakeholders statewide. After a disaster, FDEM conducts damage assessment surveys and advises the Governor of the state of Florida on whether to declare an emergency and seek federal relief funds. Position Overview and Responsibilities:

This position serves as the Warehouse Movement Coordinator within the Logistics Section of the Response Bureau, responsible for documenting and overseeing the movement and inventory of goods and resources within the Division's warehouses and distribution centers during both normal operations and disaster response operations.

The duties and responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinate the transfer of inventory from the existing warehouses and distribution centers to different locations across the state, ensuring accuracy and efficiency throughout the process.
  • Plan and develop comprehensive documents for logistics responses to include but not limited to consolidation plans, inventory management plans, resource allocation timelines, and resources availability guides.
  • Ensure the proper space utilization of warehouses and distribution centers, including layout design and shelving/storage solutions.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure transportation schedules and the movement inventory between locations, ensuring timely delivery and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Maintain clear and open communication with all stakeholders, including warehouse staff, management, and external partners, providing regular updates on the progress of the consolidation.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure inventory is maintained and transferred accurately while ensuring all warehouses and distribution centers meets safety and operational standards.
  • Identify and address any issues or challenges that arise during the consolidation process, implementing effective solutions to minimize delays and disruptions.
  • Other duties as assigned by Bureau Leadership.
  • Perform duties as assigned during activations of the emergency operation center, work non-traditional hours and travel for extended periods. Employee must be able to deploy to anywhere in Florida or the United States for up to two weeks at a time. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of warehouse operations, including inventory management, logistics, and safety procedures.
  • Proficient in warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software applications.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and team-building abilities, with experience managing and motivating a team of warehouse staff.
  • Problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field or four years of experience in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in warehouse management, with a strong understanding of inventory control, logistics, and space optimization.
