Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to oversee shipping coordination and transportation planning for structural steel projects. This role will work closely with Project Managers, Yard Foremen, and operations teams to plan shipments, coordinate vendors, and ensure materials are delivered safely, on time, and cost-effectively.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing logistics operations, over-dimensional shipments, freight coordination, and transportation planning in an industrial, construction, or fabrication environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate shipping logistics with Project Managers and Yard Foremen
• Work with freight carriers, vendors, permit agencies, and escort companies to arrange transportation
• Ensure all shipments are properly scheduled and delivered on time and within budget
• Assist with production and planning meetings to coordinate shipping schedules
• Work with internal teams to ensure accurate documentation and load planning
• Coordinate with shipping and yard teams to ensure materials are properly prepared and loaded
• Communicate shipping updates, delays, or issues with the appropriate project teams
• Coordinate permits, escorts, trucks, and route planning for over-dimensional loads
• Maintain clear communication with Project Managers, Yard Foreman, Superintendents, and operations leadership
• Ensure all logistics operations follow company safety policies and OSHA guidelines
• Support the company’s safety culture and participate in safety meetings

Additional Responsibilities

• Assist with site visits and route planning when necessary
• Coordinate with outside vendors and transportation providers
• Perform additional duties as needed to support operational goals

Quality Standards

• Ability to interpret project drawings, specifications, and shipping requirements
• Knowledge of applicable DOT, FDOT, and OSHA regulations
• Ensure shipments meet all regulatory and safety requirements

Qualifications

• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and shipping schedules simultaneously
• Professional communication and leadership skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external vendors

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• 5+ years of logistics or shipping coordination experience
• Experience with over-dimensional load planning and transportation logistics preferred
• Prior management or supervisory experience required
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and general computer systems

Communication Skills

The Logistics Manager must communicate professionally and effectively with coworkers, management, vendors, and transportation partners both verbally and in writing.
