The Stockroom Clerk is responsible for managing materials and parts inventory processes to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with organizational standards. This role supports production by maintaining inventory integrity, pulling materials for work orders, and contributing to continuous improvement within the department.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure transaction integrity in the ERP system.
- Receive incoming parts into inventory, verifying documentation is accurate and complete.
- Organize and maintain the stockroom using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles.
- Pull materials per work order, complete all paperwork requirements, and process transactions in ERP as required.
- Stock materials in assigned locations and ensure bins, boxes, and bags are clearly labeled with part numbers.
- Perform scheduled cycle counts and assist with mid-year and year-end inventory counts.
- Maintain consumable cabinets, including stocking received items, performing cycle counts, and generating weekly purchase orders.
- Review and verify accuracy of pick tickets and work orders.
- Ensure proper handling and removal of shelf-life items upon expiration.
- Assist Shipping & Receiving as needed.
- Contribute to departmental continuous improvement initiatives and Lean/5S objectives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of inventory experience, including kit pulling and order fulfillment.
- Proficiency with computers, ERP systems, and departmental documentation.
- Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in high-volume environments with proven attention to detail.
- Ability to accurately sort and compare part numbers to order lists.
- Strong follow-up skills with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Effective team player with the ability to develop cooperative working relationships.
- Ability to train personnel of varied experience levels through on-the-job training.
- Knowledge of 5S and Lean concepts with a commitment to supporting departmental goals.
- Professional attitude, strong time-management skills, and ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to accept feedback, adapt to challenges, and maintain composure in stressful situations.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English proficiently.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Physical Demands
- Work must be performed on site. Not eligible for telework.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, or kneel for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Visual acuity of 20/20 (corrected acceptable), with ability to read documents and computer screens.
- Normal hearing (corrected acceptable) with ability to recognize machine sounds and identify changes requiring action.
- Working Environment
- Factory environment with exposure to high noise levels, moving equipment, fumes, dust, mist, and chemicals.
- Occasional work outside normal business hours may be required.
