Field Project Manager (Canal Point)
Job Overview
This is a boots-on-the-ground Project Manager role—you’ll support and lead day-to-day field operations at our Canal Point (Eastern Lake Okeechobee) project, helping crews, equipment, and workflows come together to deliver meaningful restoration work. This is where project delivery meets purpose — planning, coordinating, adjusting in real time, and making sure the work gets done safely, efficiently, and the right way.
Think of this role as helping plant and grow the flag in South Florida — learning what’s worked, improving what hasn’t, and building relationships that strengthen our reputation through the work, the team, and the community.
Location and Travel
This is a field-based role, primarily based in Canal Point, FL (Lake Okeechobee). You’ll be on-site most days, with occasional travel to other Florida projects as needed. Bring a reliable vehicle and ready-to-roll mindset — this is a role for someone who shows up where the work is.
Physical Requirements
This is not a desk job. You’ll work outdoors — heat, humidity, rain, mud, and water — alongside crews, boats, and equipment. You should be able to:
- Lift up to 60 lbs and stay active through long days
- Move confidently in marine and construction environments
- Work safely around heavy equipment and active job sites
- Understand and follow OSHA and safety practices
What You Do
- Lead the Work (and the Way We Work) : You help keep projects moving by coordinating crews, equipment, and daily priorities so the work gets done right. This isn’t just about checking boxes — it’s about setting the tone for how we operate: safe, organized, thoughtful, and accountable. Every decision you make reflects on S&S, and you carry that responsibility with pride.
- Support Dredging & Field Operations : You are directly involved in dredging and marine-based construction activities, helping ensure the work is aligned, efficient, and executed to standard. You stay close enough to the work to understand what’s actually happening — adjusting in real time to keep things on track rather than reacting after the fact.
- Be Present Where It Matters : You show up — consistently and intentionally — on-site, in the field, and alongside the team. That presence builds trust, surfaces issues early, and keeps everyone aligned. It also sets the standard. Safety isn’t something you talk about — it’s something you demonstrate through how you work and how you look out for the people around you.
- Build the Team Through the Work : You understand that strong teams aren’t built in meetings — they’re built in the work. Through communication, follow-through, and respect, you support crew leads, help others succeed, and reinforce a culture where people take pride in what they do. You hold the bar high while making sure no one is carrying the load alone.
- Connect Field to Leadership : You work closely with leadership, bringing real-time insight from the field — what’s working, what’s not, and where we need to adjust. You don’t sit on problems or wait for direction; you help move solutions forward in a way that keeps the project and the team aligned.
- Use Systems to Support the Wor k: You track progress, communicate updates, and keep things organized using tools or platforms. At the same time, you know systems are there to support the work — not replace judgment, communication, or leadership.
Who You Are
- Guardian Mindset: You protect the work, the people, and the reputation. You take pride in doing things right — even when no one’s watching.
- Respond with Purpose: When things shift (and they will), you don’t wait — you communicate, adjust, and move toward solutions with the team.
- Field-First | Office-Ready: You’d rather be in the field than behind a desk, but you know the work doesn’t stop there — strong reporting, paperwork, and communication are part of how we deliver and maintain our reputation.
- Operationally Minded: You understand how jobs move — people, equipment, sequencing — and you know how to keep things flowing.
- Plan For & Beyond the Horizon: You see what’s coming and adjust early, keeping projects steady even when conditions change.
- Educated & Experienced: With a degree in construction management or civil/environmental engineering—or the kind of field-tested experience that earns respect—you blend technical know-how with hands-on practicality.
- Field-tested: You understand how ecosystems, engineering, and people intersect—and you thrive in the middle of that mix.
- Lead & Communicate with Clarity: You keep people informed, aligned, and focused — without overcomplicating things.
Required
- Experience in construction, civil, marine, or field operations
- Experience supporting field operations, project coordination, or supervision

- Experience with water/fluid processing construction

- Florida Sediment & Erosion Control Certification

- Experience developing or mentoring field teams
- SCUBA-certified
