Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Behavior Analysis, Psychology or related disciplined field with verified coursework in applied behavioral analysis
  • Must maintain BCaBA or BCBA Certification and remain in good standing with the Behavior Analysis Certification Board
  • A valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:

• Knowledge of the theories and principles of behavior analysis.

  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance, mental processes, psychological research

methods, and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders

• Knowledge of behavioral functional assessment.

• Knowledgeable in the use of MS Excel and MS Word.

• Ability to use logic and analysis to identify strengths and weaknesses of different approaches. a.

• Ability to prepare written behavioral reports and progress notes.

• Ability to analyze and interpret behavioral data.

• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and written.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Program Overview

The Developmental Disabilities Defendant Program is a 24-hour residential forensic facility with a campus at Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee and at Sunland in Marianna, operating under the direction of The State of Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD). The Developmental Disabilities Defendant Program (DDDP) is dedicated to empowering persons with developmental disabilities charged with a felony crime to acquire the skills to become competent to stand trial and acquire skills and support that will prepare them for success in their future environments.

The Work You Will Do

The Behavior Analysis Department at DDDP/Pathways provides behavioral oversight to forensic program per F.A.C 65-G, F.S. 916 and F.S. 393.11. The department is responsible for design and implementation of approved behavioral program, completes functional assessments for design and implementation of behavior modification programs and individualized behavior plans, and conducts data analysis for continuous improvement to behavioral services.

The Behavior Analyst at DDDP/Pathways will:

• Work directly with the Director of Behavioral Services and the BCBA’s to provide comprehensive

behavioral support to the DDDP and Pathways programs.

• Provide direct consultation to the Pathways administrative team.

• Act as a liaison between the DDDP Marianna and Chattahoochee campuses.

• Observe behavior, design and implement behavior modification plans

  • Evaluate effectiveness of behavioral support and modifies as needed
  • Provide supervision, support, consultation, and guidance to behavior specialists.

• Develop procedures and/or individual behavior supports to reduce the use of

seclusion or restraints

• Conduct functional assessments and guide the development and implementation of

individualized behavior support plans.

• Provide staff training on programs and procedures.

• Provide supervision for BCaBA/BCBA students when needed.

• Actively plan for and participate in monthly LRC meetings.

• Help champion special projects including those designed to enhance staff

competencies, ensure program fidelity, and reduce the occurrence of reactive

strategies.

Other job-related requirements for this position:

Upon appointment, employees must maintain training compliance with MANDT or other designated crisis de-escalation training.

Based on the duties and essential functions of this position, incumbents will be required to spend a minimum of 75% of work time performing duties which involve direct contact with residents in a secure forensic facility. This position requires lifting, pulling and squatting.
