Senior Benefits Specialist
The Senior Benefits Specialist is the key point of contact for benefit inquiries and will assist with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and 401(k) plan. This position reports to the Vice President of Human Resources.
- In partnership with VP of Human Resources, align overarching strategy of our benefit programs with the needs of the organization.
- Assist with negotiations of health and welfare benefit renewal contracts and manage the broker, carrier and other third-party administrator relationships.
- Manage self-insured medical plans, work with broker to determine annual expected costs (and provide to Accounting/periodically update for budget) and monitor against actual claims costs throughout the year.
- Respond timely to all messages in the dedicated benefits email box and benefits hotline voicemail box.
- Leverage all communication methods to maximize employee awareness and appreciation of benefit programs.
- Work closely with third party administrative vendor to coordinate benefits eligibility, enrollments, etc.
- Upload weekly reports with employee demographics and hours worked.
- Process all payroll deductions and changes for healthcare plans and periodically audit payroll deductions to detect and resolve issues.
- Review all monthly benefits invoices for accuracy for Medical, Dental, Vision, Life (basic and voluntary), ADD, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Flexible Spending Accounts, Commuter and submit for payment.
- Evaluate, analyze, and process Flexible Spending Contributions.
- Handle 401K plan administration: process payroll deductions and changes for deferrals and loans, fund bi-weekly contributions, and responsible for annual nondiscrimination testing and auditing.
- Manage all employee leaves of absence (COVID-19-related, FMLA, PFL, Maternity, Medical, ADA) including working closely with leave vendor (Sedgwick) and managers, adding paid time during LOAs to timesheets, filling out required paperwork for disability, PFL, etc.
- Miscellaneous other duties (calculation of personal trainer PTO/sick pay rates, child support notices requiring medical enrollment, administration of tuition reimbursement plan, spousal gym memberships, annual OSHA summary posting coordination).
POSITION REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Three to five years of progressive experience in benefits.
- Experience with acquisitions and implementations

Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
