_Principal (NTCA)
NTCA is looking for an experienced principal for the coming school year. The principal administers the internal educational operations of NTCA overseeing school operations including but not limited to teachers and NTCA’s curriculum. The principal will be responsible for the fulfillment of mission and curriculum delivery according to the standards and policies of the Adventist Church and the Florida Conference as adopted by the Board of NTCA. The ideal candidate will be a strong academic and spiritual leader who is willing to champion 21st century learning methods including project-based learning, mastery-based grading, and design thinking. The candidate will also have a passion for the community and seek ways to show Jesus to a diverse community and student body. Important strengths would include the ability to relate well with students, communicate effectively with parents, and manage and relate well with faculty and staff. Applicants for this position must model Christ-like behavior and attitudes which will positively impact students in leading them to Christ. The selected employee will also be responsible for other school duties as may be assigned.
Skills, Education, and Experience Required:
Applicant must be a tithe-paying Seventh-day Adventist church member in good standing and have the legal right to work in the United States, providing evidence if employed. A minimum of a bachelor's degree (master's preferred) with North American Division (Denominational) Teacher Certification is required and must be maintained (or must agree to work towards obtaining NAD Certification). A minimum of three years of successful classroom and administrative experience are required. Must be a team player; have a service-oriented attitude; and be an effective communicator, possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills. The selected applicant must have the ability to positively engage and work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders, including students and families of diverse backgrounds regardless of language, ethnicity, race, or socioeconomic status. Possessing competent technology skills using current educational software and hardware is essential. Additional traits should include strong leadership and organizational skills, attention to detail, self-directed, and motivated. Absolute confidentiality is required. Curriculum familiarity, content knowledge, as well as knowledge of proficiency in instructional delivery are crucial. Most importantly, the applicant must possess a love for God, a love for working with children, and a desire to see each child in Heaven.
Job Responsibilities:
The principal will be expected to:
- Promote the Seventh-day Adventist philosophy, ensuring that all subject matter is taught from a Seventh-day Adventist perspective based on curriculum guidelines and requirements of the North American Division, Southern Union Conference, and Florida Conference.
- Fulfill the mission and curriculum delivery according to the standards and policies of the Adventist Church and the Conference as adopted by the Board of NTCA.
- Manage the business affairs of NTCA in a fiscally prudent manner that best promotes the success of NTCA as a thriving and progressive top-tier educational institution.
Conduct the affairs of NTCA to support full enrollment in order to sustain a rich, robust, and comprehensive teaching curriculum.
Accept the responsibility of spiritual leadership of the school.
Develop and maintain positive community relations and represent the school as its official spokesperson to the patrons of the school, the school board, and the public in general. Will also articulate and communicate to the board and constituency the educational plans and programs of the school. - Serve as secretary of the school board and, in counsel with the chairperson, prepare the agenda prior to each meeting. The principal is the only representative of the school with voting privileges.
Supervise the maintenance of the school plant, grounds, equipment, supplies, and all school property for maximum efficiency and safety. - Develop emergency disaster and evacuation plan including regular preparedness activities. (See Codes 1248, 1249.) It is required that all school personnel be annually in-serviced in safety preparedness. A school safety coordinator shall be appointed by the school board at its first meeting annually which may be or not be the principal.
- Develop crisis and media management procedures in collaboration with the Conference office.
- Develop and maintain an accurate record-keeping system in compliance with Conference Board of Education and state record-keeping standards to ensure the security of all school records, including the following:
b. Minutes of school board meetings
c. Evaluation/school improvement action plan progress
d. Accident records and copies of reports
- Articulate and communicate to the board and constituency the educational plans and programs of the school.
Be involved in employment practices of Conference-funded and locally-funded personnel as outlined by the Conference Board of Education. (See Codes 4113-4154.)
Chair and coordinate the school accreditation evaluation process. - Be willing and seek opportunities to grow professionally.
- Be responsible for other duties as may be assigned.
