Inventory Accountant

Description
The Inventory Accountant will be focused on all aspects of inventory, receiving, physical inventory controls, and counts, and inventory analysis and reporting. To be successful in this role, the Inventory Accountant should enjoy working at a fast pace, be able to work independently and collaboratively with various departments, and possess excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Job Duties:
- Develop, implement, and manage inventory control systems, policies and procedures to maintain accurate inventory records. Maintain accurate records of inventory-related transactions and update inventory ledgers regularly. Conduct daily audits and analyses of inventory reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Identify inventory losses, damages, and shortages and implement procedures to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Assist with physical inventory to facilitate efficient and accurate routine counts, and receipts.
- Assist with regular inventory counts, as well as timely resolution of any discrepancies.
- Learn and become a subject matter expert in the retail software used for POS and inventory at ITsugar ( LS Retail).
- Oversee physical receipts of inventory and recording receipts into the system. Work close with the AP and Ops on resolving issues timely.
- Prepare and maintain reconciliations for inventory accounts, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues as they arise.
- Analyze data and generate clear/concise reports indicating key issues to management/ department heads (inventory issues, damages, write offs) and make recommendations on solutions.
- Monitor inventory and prepare inventory roll forward on monthly basis.
- Assist with other inventory related projects.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting preferred.
- Minimum five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in a similar role
- Experience with Inventory software (experience with LS Retail is highly desired but not required)
- General knowledge and understanding of financial reports (Balance Sheets and Income Statement)
- Strong attention to details, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel ( pivots, lookups, sumifs, etc)
- High-energy and positive attitude.
- Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to effectively manage ambiguity and change.
