BILLER/COLLECTOR (FULL-TIME) OPPORTUNITY

Brentwood Behavioral offers both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services. Located in Flowood, MS, in Rankin County with close proximity to Hinds and Madison Counties, our outpatient services are within driving distance to many surrounding areas. Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare is seeking a talented and dynamic Biller/Collector - Full-Time.
The Biller / Collector bills hardcopy and electronic UB92s and 1900s. Evaluates EOB for accurate payments and follows up with third party insurance for claims status. Evaluates for justification if insurance has not paid and obtain information necessary to ensure claim payment.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of the MS4 - Patient billng / Colletion System
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of ICD9 and CPT codes
- Consistently locates information needed in a timely manner
- Consistently meets deadlines in processing claims
- Keeps supervisor informed of billing or collection problems
- Process rebills and secondary bills timely
- Edits bills for clean claims, ie: dates outside of service dates, codes, duplicate charges
- Financial counseling to potential patients and/or guardians
- Account monitoring for late payments, non-payments, and other irregularities
- Contacting debtors by phone to discuss outstanding bills, payment status, ability to pay
- All other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
High school graduate required, some college helpful. Computer literacy, have a working knowledge of hospital billing and coding, including UB92 and 1900. Ability to follow up and collect from third party insurance companies. Understanding of insurance companies EOBs.
Preferred: One year experience in a psychiatric billing/insurance/collections setting with a bachelor's degree in finance,accounting, business management, or in similar field from accredited college or university.
